This Week in Gaming #2

      While it is that time again to look at what we have coming down the Pipeline.  I think that over all last week was a good week so lets look at the coming week.
      Monday, Tuesday: of course these are the days that I work on my book.  I will also work on my gaming book during my last break at work.  There is a podcast I listen to, and one of the gust on the  show said that if we spent 15 min every day working on something we would do more in a year then most people will in there life, so that is my goal to spend 15 min every day on my book.  I am thinking that I will spend 15 every day working on the other book too.
      Wednesday:  I will be working on Neverwinter.  Last week I worked on Awesomeman and the Green Dragon because I thought we would be playing that game, but we did not.  Now that every thing is ready for that game when we do it I can get back to the Neverwinter game.  This week I will be creating the NPC's, I also need to work on some of the encounters.  Because the players are in the season of Spring I think I am going to have the Broken Arrow Orc's attack the city more.
      Thursday:  I have this day off so maybe I will be able to get a lot done on Escape from Cyclops Island.  I have to take care of some thing to get stuff in order.  If I am able to get all of that done in a timely manner then I will spend extra time working on Escape from Cyclops Island.  I will be working on putting in some Dire Rats in to one room and then I have to come up with stuff for the other rooms in the cave of the Cyclops.
      Friday:  I don't think I will be doing anything this Friday for it is the Day of Love.  If I did get to work on something it would be the Final Dream.  I found out the other day when I went to work on it, I have to redo the second level again.  The map was gone and could not find it.  I will still have the room with the trap floors in it and the room of the rangers, other then these two rooms ever thing will be different.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

The painting of not so Awesomeman

      Today we were going to play Awesomeman and the Green Dragon, but some things went down, so we did not play, I hope that we will be able to throw down.  If it is just me and the normal boys I might just do it anyway.
      Not pod casting tonight gave me the chance to work on some of my painting.  I got all the weapons and armor painted, I would have finished the Storm giant but I did not have my glasses so I could not I will have pic's up soon on the facebook page for theswamppit.com  and Kevin's dungeon on facebook, So until next time Keep Gaming.

Why did it have to be Rats?

      Last night I worked on Escape from Cyclops Island.  I got two and a half rooms done, next week when I work on the game I will add the Dire Rats to the room I am working on then maybe I will get more rooms done.
      Tonight it is time to work on The Final Dream, the Dungeons and Dragons 1E game that I am working on.  I have one big room to do the room of the two rangers of the castle.  This is one of the rooms that is going to have magic items, all the items in this room are from the female ranger.
      I am hoping to make it far enough in my detailing that I can get to the room with all the trap floor titles in it, and then some monsters too.  I am not sure what types of monsters it comes to me when I get to the room. 
      I think that is it for this subject, so we will move on to this weekend.  I am going to be running the adventure that I wrote for TableTop Con.  Some guys from work are going to be joining the group and then the normal group of gamers.  I am really excited about doing this, one of the guys at work is really worried that his guy is going to have to meet that man that has the deck of many things.  I have told him that it is ok because the man that has the deck can do way more bad things to people then the deck can.  Until next time Keep Gaming.

One big rock

      While it is Thor's day and that means it is time to work on Escape from Cyclops Island.  I have the cave all mapped out so I just need to add Monsters and Treasure, then I will work on the out side part of the adventure.
      There are two reasons that I am doing Escape from Cyclops Island.  The first is I have been wanting to do a Greek adventure for a long time.  The second reason is I was going to send it to Adventureaweek.com they are a site that sells adventures, the problem is that adventures you send them have to be in both Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, and Pathfinder.  I was not going to send it in because I don't play Pathfinder and really don't want to, but I have decided I will make the change just so I can get something going and maybe producing money.
      One of the things I hope to do this year is come up with a site like Adventureaweek.com, but I want it to be what ever the writer wants to do so just about every game type and things like that.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

To write or not to Write.

      Tonight is the night that I should be working on my Neverwinter game.  The problem I am facing is that this weekend I am going to be running the adventure that I wrote of TableTop Con that we did not play. 
So I really don't need to get ready for the Neverwinter game.  On the other hand it is always good to do what you have planed for and the more I do now the less I will have to do latter.
      That being said I have made a goal to be done with my second draft by the end of March.  While that is next month, and therefore I feel every time I can work on it I should, so that is what I will be doing to night when I get home from work to night.  Until next time Keep Gaming

An Epic Day Something For the Whole Family to Enjoy

      While it is Sunday so we will do the While whats coming up in the next week, but because I did not blog yesterday I share with you about the Castles and Crusades game.  There was also a Crypts and Things Game but you can read about that at the Northern Clan blog.  http://mortardthebackbreaker.blogspot.com/.
      It was the first night of The Castles and Crusades game that we are doing once a month.  One of the players was not able to make it so right now there is a monk and a ranger both humans.  There is also two NPC's one is a bard and the other is an assassin, they are also human.
      That is one of my rules right now, that the world has never been explored so the players can only be human, after the adventure they are on now Gnome will be a choose.
      So I am building this world based on Wonderland, and the Queen of Hearts has sent the hero's on a quest to help two Gnome brothers free there kin from two Troll brothers.  This was an adventure that was used at last years Free RPG Day. 
      It would take three days to get to the Cave where the troll brothers live, there would be a very sick looking tree on top on the hill.  One the first day or night the group was attacked by wolfs, the ranger died so they had to go back to the village of Cardington and find a cleric that would raise the ranger and would join the party.  They did both and set back out, on day two they were attacked by more wolfs but no one died this time.
     Finally the group made it to the cave.  The cave was covered by a very large bolder, and while trying to come up with a plan, the monk decided he was going to taunt the trolls and announce that they were here.  The trolls came out had and easy case of the monk and then throw him at the other member because the trolls could not get to them due to there being a large fire.  After healing the monk and making a new plan they waited for the trolls to come out for there nightly hunt, then they attacked. 
      Even with the lose of the bard the group did much better this time killing one of the trolls, and knocking down the other.  The problem was they forgot the unless the use fire the other troll would not stay dead and when they went back to get something the second troll attacked.  They killed it but not be for the troll killed the cleric and the monk.  In the end the only two standing were the ranger and the assassin.
      Thus ends the first story of Wonderland and it's soon to be hero's we hope.  Now lets get in to whats coming next week.  Tonight, Monday and Tuesday are of course nights that I work on writing my book.  Wednesday I will be working on the Neverwinter game.  I have to make the NPC's for that, and we might be getting a new player.  Thursday I will be working on Escape from Cyclops Island, and on Friday the Final Dream my 1st edition Dungeons and Dragons Game. Off With Their Heads

      I am to work on the new Castles and Crusades game tonight.  I am hoping that is what I will do.  The last two days I have been really sick so by the time I got home from work I just wanted to go to bed.  The plan for the night it to make the two NPC's that will travel with the group.
      The Queen is going to send two people to work with the group that she is hiring to explore the world.  The first is a bard, his job is to be the Diplomat.  The second is an assassin, her job will be to do the dirty work that the party won't do.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

This Week in Gaming #1

      I have decided that every Monday I will share with you my plans for the week, that way I might get some of them done.  So tonight and tomorrow I will be working on my book.  This book is not really about gaming so I won't talk about it to much.  During my breaks at work I can work on writing my second book which is all about gaming.
      On Wednesday it will be Neverwinter day, but this week I will be working on the new Castles and crusades game that I am running once a month.  I am going to be creating the world as we go, I am going to build it based on Wonderland.  The group are going to start in the village of cardington, which is protected by the Queen of Hearts and her castle of hearts.
      Thursday will be the day I work on Escape from Cyclops Island.  I just need to write every thing that is on the map and create the bad guy.  A Cyclops barbarian, I think it is going to be a lot of fun to fight.  After the adventure they will be on a ship adventure as they try to find there way home.
      Friday will be the 1st edition game.  I have to finish the second level of the king's castle, there is still a lot of work to be done, then level 3.
      Saturday is game day so there will be a blog about either the Northern Clans or a podcast for Neverwinter.  I would also like to get my painting done on Saturday but we will see what happens.

Back on Track

      While now that TableTop con is over, I can go back to doing things the way they should be done.  Today I got a podcast done, and will post it when I get home from work tonight.  It is Friday so that means that it is time for The 1st edition Dungeons and Dragons game.
      Tonight I will be working on the second level of the Kings Castle.  I am hoping to get a lot done today.  I don't think I will get it all done but I am going to try and get close.  I also will start working on the Castles and Crusades game. TableTop Con 2014

      Before I get in to the two days that was Tabletop Con, I want to share with you my new idea.  I am going to be starting a Castles and Crusades game, I have decided that I am going to build my world as we go.  It is going to be based on Wonderland so the only thing the players will know about the world is the castle where the Queen of Hearts lives and the little village they are from.  I think it is going to be a lot of fun.
      Now Tabletop Con was on Jan 17-18th in Salt Lake City Utah.  It was a lot of fun.  I was going to run a Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 game on the first day during the first five hour block.  While there was only two people that signed up for my game and one of them did not show up.  So I will be doing a side adventure of Awesomeman and the Green dragon later on my podcast.  Not having a game to run Casey and myself joined a Star Trek game based on D&D 3.5.  It was really fun there was three of us Plus the DM.
      Casey played the played the wizard type guy the other player was the captain of the mission and I got to play the engineer the Female cleric type.  Our mission was to join the ship that we would be signed to for the next five years, the U.S.S. Argo Novice.  When we got to the ship there was a problem it had taken damage and there was no power or anything.  We also found a Moon Based that had taken battle damage, and then there was the planet that we could check out.  We decided to check out the planet to start with the planet.  When we got to the surface we found a small village and a lab. We went to the lab because we had received an SOS.  When we got to the lab no one answered us so we left.  In the end of the game the Lab was the only mission that we had finished, we saved the Doctor.
       The second day was a good day.  Casey and I played in a Living Forgotten Realms game. We got through three of the five quest in the three blocks that we had.  The first quest was to escort Lady Iouna to join her husband.  She was going to pay us to not get on the boat with her, but we did not take the money.  The second quest was to find out who kidnapped Lady Iouna and her husband,   In this adventure we got to fight some Demons.  In the Last Quest it was to get out of the city before it was over run by the Shadow creatures.  While there you have it two days of TableTop Con.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

Not So Many Days

      While There are now only two days left before TableTop Con on Friday.  There is still so much to do, I need to paint alot but I need to at least paint the mini I am going to use for my cleric DJ.  I am hoping to do a podcast with Casey tomorrow because I want to do one before the con, so we are going to do a podcast of creating his Ranger.
      Today while at work one of my friends that is going with us told me that he can't go on Saturday, so I asked why and in the end it came out that he had to run his game on Saturday.  I had to tell him that some times the DM's need to be players too.  That is what I love about the C&C and S&S games that I am part of that I am a player.  I have to admit that it is nice being the DM, because I can do what I want.  The Castle and Crusades game I am playing in I am playing an assassin and I think he is evil, but the DM does not play evil so I have to be True Neutral.

D&D + Magic=One Good Night

      I have finished the layout of my Gaming Paper map for TableTop Con This next weekend.  I have decided that I am going to put the art work for the buildings in when the get to each place.  I still need to finish painting the Mini's that I will need.  I will do that when I am done with this, I am hoping that I can get the rest of that today.
      After I finished my map, my uncle had made it back to his place, so we busted out the Magic the Gathering.  We played three games the first two were EDH games. 
      Game 1: His Black deck vs. My Scarecrow deck.
I really thought he was going to win this game, I was not able to get any creatures out, and when I did he would use a creature kill card.  I also played the Reaper King wrong it only cost 10 if you don't have one of every land type, so I wanted longer to play it then I needed to.  In the end I played my Reaper King and the Door to Nothingness and he stopped attacking me so I was able to kill him.

He was quite excited about playing his deck because his Commander only cost one red plus one.  Mine cost two read plus four.  The problem for him was that 6 out the 7 cards in my opening had were land cards.  after that is was all over I had my commander and a Manticore and took his one guy and killed him in about three turns.

I know that he played this deck so I could build my army and then we would play something like Wrath of God and kill them all.  He was not able to get any creatures and at the start the only creature I had was given the Gift of Immortality so there was not a lot he could do.

A Giant Map of Uptown

      With TableTop Con coming up in 8 days and my Costume being done today.  I have been working on the Game, I have just about got every thing about done.  So I have started putting the map of the city on to Gaming Paper.
      I have had this Gaming Paper for a few years, but I have never figured out what I would do with it, because it is single sheets.  Now I know what to do with it, make a big map of the village of Uptown.  I will have pictures of it on the swamppit's face book page, TheSwamppit.com.  I will also put them on the website.
      There is just one problem, the map is getting to big to work on it piece by piece so I have to have it alll on the floor and it is are hard to do when there are kids running around.  The goal is do it when I get home from work, and I hope to be done in the next two days.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

D&D Next and Grim Fairy Tale Giants

      I was going to add this to my post Yesterday, but then I forgot.  I was at my local game store and heard someone telling others about the new D&D Next.  I am glad that they shared the info but I am not looking for too what is coming.  So after telling us that rods recharge and staffs recharge slowing he said that D&D Next is Wizards version of Pathfinder.
      During the process of D&D 4th edition, I would read things about what was coming from the Wizards website and would think to my self this game is not only not D&D, but it is going to be crap.  While I pre-ordered a copy of the box set anyway, and it was crap.  I don't want to by an other box's set for 105 dollars for an other crap game.  If it really is a version to compete with an other game someone should just tell Wizards that all the have to do is 1.start listening the the fans again and 2. Make the game the fans want.
      So I have started reading the Grim Fairy Tales Comic book, and was thinking that when I go and by more of the Female could giant mini from bones I am going to paint four of them or more like that girls, like one for Alice in Wonderland and the other girl that wears black, then one for Little Red Riding Hood, and so on I think it would really cool and fun.  I am going be using a lot of giants, because one of my favorite games that I have run was Against the Giants.  I did not run it through all the way because I was using for my L5R type game.  But I could run it as is.  Plus the second adventure in the Final Dream will be about dragons or giants.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

Writing and Painting

      While today I was able to on Awesomeman and the Green Dragon.  After I get some painting done I will go back to working on it.  The players have been invited in to the village of Uptown but do to Marshal  Law they need to turn in their weapons.  I wonder if any of them will think it odd that the mayor is not the one greeting them to the village, or that the Second does not talk only looks upon them through the hood of his robes, or that he follows them everywhere they go.
      So when I get back to it tonight, I need to build the village.  I know there is an inn that has no food for the guests, the temple has been taken over by followers of the Dragon Queen, and the House that is part way in the MT.that the green dragon lives.  Now I just need to Create the info for Dora Dragonspring the bad girl of the adventure/ The Green Dragon.
      There are a lot of things that I need to paint for the Con coming up, I need to do all the bad guys for this game, the ones that I might use in this game and all the other ones that I have.  One of the goblins in the army is wearing Demon Armor so I bought a Demon Mini to use.  So until next time Keep Gaming.
     

War and rumors of War

      Last night I worked on Awesomeman and the Green Dragon, I got all the groups of goblins done for the war battle.  There is one Goblin that I gave full hit points to, and he is going to look ripped with muscles all over his body.  I will give him a good suite of armor and an battle axe.  I will finish that tonight and then start working on the village of Uptown.
      In the village I am still going to make it like a sandbox and let them figure out what they want, but there has to be some where for them to go.  There are a few things that I am going to do.  I think I am told you about a cursed weapon, but if I have not I am working on a weapon that does level drain and turns you evil.  There is also going to be an encounter with a man that will make wishes come true at the price of ones soul.

Assassians and Spiders

      Yesterday was a good day for gaming.  I spent about 10 hours at the game store.  I was about to create my guy for the game we played last night.  James Smith an Assassin, I was kind of hoping to play him as evil put I had to make him TN.

      James Smith was born the son of a bread maker.  When he was young he joined the Green Dragon thief's guild.  When he was 15 he killetd the Baroness of Black Lake Castle while trying to steal the Eye of No one, a gem that is valued at about 125,000 g.p.  At that point he decided there could be more mone it being a hitman and then steal some goods from his victums.
      Now he is 20, and when he is not hiding form the other two assassins guilds he is trying to get others to join his guild the Golden Eye.and searching for the Sword of the Green Dragon so he can take his place as the leader of the Green Dragon guild.
      The game it's self was a great game, we were seeking a Kobold bandit that was forcing the village to pay there taxes to him, and the lord of the land wanted his taxes so for 250 g.p we are going to find the bandit and kill him.  The Gnome ranger was not a very good tracker.  Then when we were all sleeping something came towards us so the Dwarven Knight woke everyone up so we could all fight it.  The next day we found the cave of the ogre that we killed and found some a good suite of armor that was magical but I gave it to the cleric because I could not use it and still do my thing.
      When we got the the place we were looking for our DM pulled out his new Dungeon Titles I think they are from Dwarven Forge.  While it did not take us long to find some goblins to kill, after the battle we found a demon statue and a gold bowl with blood in it.  We washed the blood out and then tried to go on, but every time we tried to leave the room the bowl would start ringing until I cut myself and put three drops of blood in the bowl.
      In the second room we found was a well, and when I went in to look there came out of the well a spider.  it bite me and the second time I was not able to make my save.  The cleric healed the damage I took and the ranger tried to get rid of the poison but was not able to.  The last battle we got in to was four goblins and a dog, the ranger tried to clam the dog and make it his mount.  It was a good thing we had the cleric because in this fight the barbarian and I went down.  So until next Keep Gaming.

Goblins and Weddings

      This week has been kind of crazy while I was getting ready for my Daughters wedding, but I was able to get some work done.  I worked on my game for TableTop Con that is coming up soon.  The last encounter before the hero's get to the village of Uptown is to fight an army of 150 goblins.  I have done four of the 15 groups, so I think that by the end of this week I can be done with that on Wednesday and Thursday I can work on the village.
      I was just looking at the TableTop Con page and I might have to change the game a little bit, I only have two people signed up right now.  So until next time Keep Gaming.

Risk and Zombies.

      On Sunday I got a text from my Cousin asking if I wanted to play a game of Risk that he got for Christmas.  It was Plants vs. Zombies Risk.  If you have not seen this game yet the board is set up like a brain.  It is a lot of fun.
      So lets get in to it a little bit, the game is play with missions you have to complete three to win the game the one's we played were take the city dump, control all the red, control all of one of the other colors, get six station wagoons, get six territories in the fog.  The cities dump was what change the game for me.  It was one of the territories that the gnomes were at and my Cousin spent two turns and about 20 plants to try and take it but he could not so I did, and when I did he had no army to stop me.
      The cards are pretty cool to in this game each card has a power that you can use, like add plus one to a dice roll. and they have a number of coins on them and you buy armies equal to the number of coins, for 10 coins you get 30 guys.
      I really had fun playing this game and won, but then my Cousin said what there's more.  On the back side of the board was an other game called plants vs. zombies.  Where the zombies have to get to the house to get the brains, that game was a lot of fun too.  So until next time Keep Gaming and Merry Christmas.

I have Mini's and I want them painted Black!

      Today I was able to get some painting done.  I only had two hours so I worked on getting most of the base coat done.  I also bought a new skeleton mini.  I now have so many undead mini's that I really need to follow through with my idea to write an adventure about the undead.  I am thinking about calling it Castle Whitehaed.  There is also the part that my city adventure Bavil is ruled by the undead.  I also have an adventure I bought about a city ruled by the undead so maybe I will run that.
      As I was leaving the game store the worker wanted to see what I had done.  I told him that I was only doing base coats but I showed him what I had done.  He told me about this way to get the weapons back to there normal shape, I am going to look in to that and then I will share it with you all.  We also talked about the female cloud giant mini.  I want to hear what you think about this so leave a note and tell me.  What we were talking about was is she wearing armor or is she showing off what she has?
      I want to get the giants painted soon, because I would like to use them in Awesomeman and the Green Dragon is the hero's go down the cave that is in the house of the Green Dragon.  So until next time Keep Gaming.
