Just writing

      This weekend is supposed to be Magic on the podcast, Hell in Freeport.  And then on Saturday is Crypts and Things.  I am not sure if I am going to be doing any of it, for I might be moving.
      That being said, I am trying to get my book done, by next Thursday so I am doing little work on my games.  Neverwinter I am just letting the players take us were they want to.  When I have my other game ready for a kickstarter I will finish my Neverwinter game and give it out as a perk.  I will work on Hell in Freeport maybe tomorrow night if I can, I really need to start working on Escape form Cyclops Island.

Family Games

      It has been a few days, I have been doing things for my wife, and we went out of town for a weekend away.  But now I am back and it is going to be a good night to be back.  It is all going to be about the kids.
      Lets start with the Dungeons and Dragons.  So today while working on my book, my daughter came to me with the Frost  Titan and the Aspect of Moradin mini's.  Her plan was to fight with me, in the first battle I was the Aspect and she was the Frost Titan.  I think I won that fight, the second fight I was the Frost Titan I am not sure who won that one.  Then she started fighting with her.  I am kind of pride of her, even though her mom is going to hate me for live.
      On Saturday I bought Sorry for the kids this past weekend, I am thinking we will play it tomorrow.  We would have played sooner, but we have been playing other games.  The first was Topple.

The Idea is to not knock it over, while adding the pieces to it.  Last night Sophie and I were able to get every pieces on with out it falling.  She is having a ton of fun with this game.

The second game is one that she is not able to understand yet, but she still loves playing with it.  It is Loaded Questions.

I love this game, it is about move across the board and asking questions.  Like if there was one thing you could do what would it be?

The answer I gave was, learn how to play Flames of Wars.  A Would War II mini war game.

There is sickness in the air

      While Between being sick, and taking care of the family.  I am a few days behind with the blog.  So lets get it on. 
      Friday was Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.  Magic was good, we finished a tournament that We are doing on my podcast.  You can hear that on Itunes under The Swamp Cast, or you can go to www.theswappit.com.  My Vampire deck won that tournament, I will have an article about it on the website latter to night or tomorrow. 
      The Dungeons and Dragons game was good, we also did a podcast for that.  We started Hell in Freeport.  Due to character creation we did not play to long.  The next time we play we should be able to make it to Hell.  Casey is playing Awsomeman, which is why we started playing this game, and the other person is playing a human fighter.  I have given them an NPC mage, and I am sure I will give them one more before the night is done.
      This weekend has been good to me, when I was not sick.  I recieved three books this weekend.  The first was from my friend.  the plan was that I was going to get a copy of 1st edition Castles and Crusades Castle Keepers book.  While when I went to the Crypts and Things game I got a surprise what was waiting for was a reprint of the 1st edition AD&D Dungeons Master's Guide.

A nice surprise, that I will use for along time, my first DMG was my dad's and I still look at it all the time.  I use it for the Final Dream Project and need it for the Tomb of Horrors game I am going to run soon.
     The next thing that I got on saturday was one of the books I was waiting for, to write Escape from Cyclops Island.  The 3.5 version of the Monster Manual.

I kind of would have liked to have this on Friday night when I had to use a demon to kill the boys.  But now I have it, so write my adventure and next time we play Hell in Freeport.

      And the book I got on Monday, I might not use for awhile but it is good to have.  The Way of the Ratling.

       That is one good looking book.  I will use this again someday for my Dungeons and Dragons version of L5R.  I played 2sd edition once and did not really like it,  but I love to use it to play Dungeons and Dragons.  I once played a Ratling when I was in a Freeport game that my friend did for us.  While now that we have gone for circle, by  going from Freeport to Freeport, until tomorrow Keep Gaming.

Wasting Time

      While it is going to be a late night maybe 11:30 or 12, I really need to get my stuff done.  I was able to work a little on my book and when I am done with the Northern Clan blog, I will most likely spend more time on it.
      Remember how I told you yesturday I was going to waste a few hours, playing God of War 2?  While I would have got more done, if I was not wasting so much time playing God of War 2.  I think I have a few ideas from this game that I can try to use in my Roman game.
      While the plain is that I will spend some time working on the Final Dream, so until tomorrow, Keep Gaming.

I am Batman or Spider-man, or Who ever.

      Today we had a birthday party for my son, he will turn 2 tomorrow.  He loves batman, so we got him a Hot Wheels car it is the 1966 Batmobile.  Now in our house we have a problem of if we have cool crap we play with it so maybe when he is my age it will be worth something out of the box becasue it's not now.
      I found out some neighbors have been writing an RPG, and one of these days I am going to go play test it for them.  I am kind of excited to do that, I one thing I do is play test games.  I am almost part of the Utah Board Games Designers Guild.
      I have finished class for this month so, I can do what ever until Monday.  Most of that time will be spent working on my book.  I have 20 days to finish 3 chapters, so I need to step it up a little.  I will also be working on Neverwinter even though it is not until next weekend.  Final Dream is on the list of things to be done, and on Friday until it is time to do my podcast I will be working on my card game Rise of the Monarch.  And who am I kinding I am sure I will waste a few hours playing God of War 2.
      Friday for my podcast The Swamp Cast, it will be Magic the Gathering, we have a few games to finish, and then we will help John make is character for Hell Freeport.  If we play at my house again it will be perfect becasue right now it is as hot as Hell if not hotter.  I also need to work on some NPC's because I don't think the two of them are going to make it.
      Saturday is the Crypts and Things game.  I am really excited for that game, I need to find a new mini for it.  I have one but it doesn't really fit who Motard the Back Breaker of the Bear Clan is.  but this week I will still be using the one I have, becasue mini's cost money and I don't have any of that right now.
      When I do have some money to buy some mini's there are some at my second  local game store the Dragons Keep in Provo, Utah.  There are some of the Reaper Mini that just came out in the Bones set.  Now the one at the game store is a Forst Giant or Titian.  I already now how I would paint it and for only 13 dollars I could have hours of fun.  There is another mini from this set that I would like to get becasue it would be good for one of my players who has a Griffen.  While that is it so Keep Gaming.

The Final Dream

      Today I was to work on my 1st edition Dungeons & Dragons game.  but life always get in the way when you plain things.  So I am either staying up late tonight so I can get some of it done. 
      I need to get more in to this but that is it for tonight, so until tomorrow keep gaming

Winning, Updates and Cave people

      Today was kind of been one of those days.  We will not get in to the not so good part, but when I went to pay for my L5R book, I found that some how I won a copy of the Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Monster Manual.for both books it cost about 32 dollars.
      So in about a week, I will be able to add monsters to my floor plan, and all that good stuff.  Today I got the intorduction done, and maybe tomorrow I will get it maped out.  I think it is going to be a lot of fun.

      I took a trip to the local game store today the Dragon's Keep in Orem.  I will be running a Castles and Crsades game for them for Free RPG day in June.  I am kind of looking forward to that.  They are going to have 3 round robins, and then in the after noon they are going to have a game section.
  While until tomorrow or monday becasue it is mother's day keep gaming.

A day off maybe

      The Doctor told me I had to keep my feet up for two days,  so I have not worked on any thing really.  There is a website http://www.d20srd.org/ that I really like, I have been looking at it thinking about doing an other Dungeons and Dragons game.  An Epic level adventure in the city of Freeport.  I think it would be a ton of fun.  I would have to try and find some more people to play in this game.  There is one person I would really want to play with us, so it means one person would be out, and that is ok the other thing is I don't know if I would podcast that one.
      I also planed out my week next week all the projects I will be working on.  I did not make a day for my Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 game, because I will not have a Monster Manual yet.  but one or two days I am working on The Final Dream, my Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition game, my book I will be working on for two days, and on Friday I will be working on my Card game Rise of The Monarch.
      I did for get to plan one thing and I will go back and do that, Next saturday is My Crypts and Things game.  We have only played it one time so far, but I really like it.  I don't know what it is about the game or maybe it is just the face that it is an RPG with and old school feeling to it. Either way it is a good game you should check it out.

Biding Wars

      Yesturday I told you I need to get a new Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual, that was going to cost $25 if I won it.  While today when I left for my surgey, I know I was not going to win that one becasue I asked my 17 year old daugther to keep an eye it.  While when I got home I was able to find an other one and bid 10.00 dollars on it.  I keep on eye on it all day and at the last min lost it because I could not type 15.00 fast enough.  I have found on now and have bid 10.00 on,  but it doesn't end until Monday.
      The day was not a total lost.  I was able to win The Way of The Ratling, an L5R book.  I will  use it when I get my oriental adventure going again.  The book maybe L5R, but the oriental advenutre is a Dungeons and Dragons 3.0/3.5 game.  you can hear it on the Swampcast or at www.theswamppit.com. 
      There were two part to my Oriental Adventure, the first part I just called the OA.  In that game the player's went to 3 of the 5 clan's and spent of time in the Shadowlands, and meet Baba Yaga, and they were sent to a far away land where I ran them through parts of Against the Giants, a Dungeons and Dragons adventure. 
      The second part I called The Curse Of Wu Mai.  I have not yet finished this adventure because on of my players had to movie to CO.  I really hope to someday run that game again.

Winning or Losing? And What about the Kids.

      While at the moment I am winning the bid, for my 3.5 version of the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual.  I was losing and while I am writing this post, I could be losing again.  I guess in the end I don't need to win, becasue there will be more books. And right now it is going to cost $25 if I will I think I am done biding on this book.

      I think maybe I should start doing this at night, let me tell you why.  Being the Dungeons and Dragons nerd that I am, I have many Dungeons and Dragons Mini's.  While having kids I  let them play with the mini's.  Just after I got done bloging yesturday my son decided that he and I need to battle.  The first battle I got the Beholder and he used the Trihorn Behemonth I think the Trihorn one that fight.  In the second battle I got the Beholder and he got Tiamat, there is no question that the Dragon Queen won that one.
      There have been more then one time, I have thought about doing something for my website or my podcast about something like Friday Night Fights.  This would be a great way to get it started.  It would not just  be Dungeons and Dragons, one fight I think would be good is the monkey from Aldain and the mouse from Bulder's Gate.
      The other reason I should do this at night is, I know that yesturday I told you that for one of my Dungeons and Dragons game I am runing Hell in Freeport.  While I was looking for my copy of the monster manual I found my copy of Denizens of Freeport by: Green Ronin Publishing.  I feel that this book can be used to add more to any game  but in my game there are two people  that I want my group to fight and then I am thinking Awsomeman can give aid to one of them and see if he can't send her down the right path even in the city of Freepot.  The first battle that I thought would be fun, but I might not do it is.Alfhild, Northlander Sea Reaver.  Hell in Freeport says that if the players take one ship they won't be attacked by pirates, but if they are on a different ship then they are fair game for Alfhild and her long ship.  The second person I would like my players to meet is Gitch, Goblin Fire Marshal.  Maybe he can set the players ship or house on fire and then show up  to put it out.
      Then while I was waiting for my wife to pick me up from school, I had this great idea that I could write and epic level adventure for Freeport.  I would call it The Epic City of Freeport.  If I did this I would have to get the C of A so I could use the Freeport Pirate.
      While now that I have found a good writing pen, I need to go work on my book or Neverwinter, or Escape from Cyclops Island.  So until next time keep gaming.
     

Books, and Money

      In order to write Escape from Cyclops Island, I need the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual.  I know I have the 3.5 verson  that I need but I have spent the last two days looking for it.  After I went to the Dragon's Keep in Provo Utah to see if maybe I had put it in my locker, I was looking at buying one of the reprint books.  These reprints cost 49.95 for a new one, that is 100% profit for Wizards of the Coast.  Alright I will say that maybe it is 95% just in the off chance that they give royalities to People that work for them and are not just freelancers.  So when that dissucction comes up about why wizards did the reprint line there should be no question that is was for no reason other then to make more money.
      I have bid on this book at www.ebay.com and right now I am winning that war, but there is still one day to go.  I need this book so I can write my games, I have a 3.0 version that I could use but I feel if you are going to do something you should do it right.
      So I guess that until I am able to get or find my book, I am just going to have to work on my Dungeons and Dragons first edition games.  There is the Final Dream saga that I am writing,  I am hoping to have that one  published.  The other one is for my players so they can go through  The Tomb of Horrors.  They are both going to be fun to work on and even more fun to run.
      Today is a school day so I don't know if I will be able to work on my Neverwinter game to much but there is always tomorrow and I kind of have a four day weekend, maybe I will be able to get some of that  done.  And with just over a week  before we start Hell in Freeport, I think I am ready to run that all the way through.  It is going to be a lot of fun to see the return of Awsomeman, we will playing that on the podcast to keep an eye out for that.

Rules, Games and Fun.

      One thing I hated about Dungeons and Dragons 3.O is that when I started playing the groups I played in would multi-class in everything so they could get the saves up.  I hated it, if you are going to play a mage then be a mage, or a rouge, or what ever.  But you would have  people that would be playing a level 3 rouge/level3 mage/ level 5 fighter, and so on and so forth.
      One last thing about the new stuff vs. the old stuff.  When I was playing Ad&d I came up with the idea to play a Thief/Magic-user that had mental issues.  But when I changed to playing the new games I have not been able to play that guy, because they aren't rules to do that.
      So on the Subject of Magic the Gathering.  I was asked if there was a manual for Magic, of course I said their was and that you could google it.  So I asked what you were looking for?  The answer for this ways that this person wanted to become a better player.I told this person that there best bet would be to go down tot the local game store and talk to them, but there is not much they are going to say that I have not already said..  So I once again tried to teach them how to  build a deck and things like that.
      Today I am hoping to work on my store at www.theswamppit.com and kevinsmajestictheswamppit at www.ebay.com.  I am also hoping to work on my Neverwinter game, and then Escape from Cyclops Island.

      Last night was Magic night.  I was  not able to make a podcast because I had to do it at my house so I could take care of the kids.  So I will make one when I am done with this blog.  You can hear it at www.theswamppit.com or on Itunes called The Swamp cast.
      For the Podcast I do a series called Season of Hero's.  So we did that and then we played two free for alls.  I played my new land deck and it did not go so while.  In the first game Casey was using his burn deck and would attack me every other turn, and when John figured out I was playing this land deck he got scared and was going to make sure I was not going to win.  The second game I could not draw any thing I needed.
      Today was Free comic book day, it was good fun.  I got  The  Guild, Superman, Batman and the New 52, my daugther got yo gabba gabba, and my son got Spider-man.  The Guild is a good book and on the back is buffy.
      I think that is it for today, it is time to go and work on gaming stuff.

      So one thing I forgot yesturday was Unicorn City.  I know that movie as  been out for some time in Utah, and I don't know about other place.  But it is a great gamer movie, that even my kids enjoyed the true test is if my wife would watch it with me.  You can find it on Netfilx so have fun with that, and maybe you can "level up before the next time we meet."

      There is a new podcast that I have started listening to it is called the Nerd's Domain Podcast.  The first one I have listened to is a review of everything from books and games, to app's, but they about to do a Kickstarter to upgrade there recording stuff and then will start a C of C game.  I am looking forward to hearing about the Necronomicon.
      Tonight is Friday Night Magic  but it is nothing to do with Wizards of the Coast or "Wizards of the Beach."  So I need to get stuff ready for that I have one new deck that I have to write about, and one deck that I have change with the release of Dragon Maze.  Tonight in the podcast The Swampcast we will finish the tournament for the Season of Hero's.

      While where do I start?  Yesturday one of my friends ask me, if Freeport is the second best city adventure what is the first?  The anwser is Ptolus by Monte Cook.  I know there are others not there  but I have not played them yet.  And just like I told my friend it could be the DM I had, even thought one of the players did somethings they should not have done.  The group I played with when we played Ptolus, was much better then the group I played with before my mission.
      I found a new gaming podcast today, I have not yet started it, but they are geting ready to start playing a C of C game.  They are called or the podcast is called The Nerd's Domain Podcast.  After I am done listening to the leadership podcast I am listening to I am going to go and check this podcast out.  They are getting ready to start a Kickstarter to upgrade there podcast, when this happens I will share it all with you

      Today, I am just reading Hell in Freeport.  I am looking forward to runing this game.  We are going to start playing next friday after we play magic.  I am going to be running this game on the podcast, you can listen to it on Itunes under The Swampcast, or you can go to www.theswamppit.com. 
      I have to start looking at some of my 1st edition stuff, so I can get that game ready as while.  That is going to be fun, last night I had an idea for a NPC  but that will depend on if I am able to use one of my characters that is already made in a game I will be joining in a few months.
      There are two other things I am thinking about this day.  The first is running a second edition game, that is going to be Ravenloft.  I have wanted to do that for some time and I know that could be a ton of fun.  The second is yesturday I learned the Magic the Gathering set that is coming in October is going to be based on the Roman Gods.  I am really looking forward to this, but it seems to me that it would be kind of hard to publish my adventure becasue there would the notion that he was just trying to do what everyone is already doing.

      I am really excited, there are many RPG thing coming down the pipe line.  Lets start with the project I can only tell you about have of it.  I will be running a 1st edition D&D game, starting with the B set.  I don't remember the other books in the set, but the second on is The Keep on the Borderlands, and the Caves of Choas.  I am thinking about adding agaist the giants in to my game, but I am not sure about this yet.
      Now lets get in to the game that will most likely start next week.  I am going to set you up for this one.  One day while working on something, and I got a messeage on facebook from my cousin that said "Hey I want to do something with Awsomeman."  Now Awsomeman is his 12th level samuri, that he played starting in Freeport, and then The Red Hand of Doom. So in answer to this request I give you Hell in Freeport.

I am really excited about running this game, for two reasons.  The first is that we are going to be getting a new player on the podcast, and second is that we are going back to Freeport.  I feel that Freeport is the second greatest Premade city adventure I have played.

 

 

 

      Today there is a ton going on.  On the way home I had to stop at the game store, to get some cards for my land deck.  I think I have a 1st draft ready, so I will play that until my other cards come in.  It jsut be a ton of fun.
      While at the game store, I was given some Skaven so I can start playing  Warhammer fantasy.  There are still many things I have to get like the Screaming Bell.  I am looking at what paint colors to do, I am thinking there will be purple, the picture on the box therr teeth are white, and I am thinking they should be yellow, and there weapons are bloody, but I am thinking I am going to paint green and black on the weapons for ooze and stuff.
      And last one of my friends just gave me some D&D 1st edition stuff.  So now I am looking at what I can do with that, I am steal working on The Final Dream, but I will not be doing that with out I have now, I can not tell you what I have, but listen to the podcast and you will hear about it.  The Swampcast on Itunes or on the website www.theswamppit.com

      While I made it throught the Dragon Maze. I only won 3 out of the 8 games I played, so it was not as not as good as it could have been.  I played Dimir and for the most part I liked the cards I got.
      I have taken the cards I got last night and  the cards from Gatecrash to build a new deck. I am only missing one guild gate to make my Maze End's deck.
      Now it is time to work on some D&D.  I have some Neverwinter to work on, and then Escape from Cyclops Island.

      I should be sleeping right now, it is the only thing I can do to get ready for the Dragon Maze prerealse.  I am looking forward to this,  I am buying a Dimir deck, I am I am hoping to run Black,Blue and Red.  So here is to making it out of the Maze.
