The Dark Market Is Back—And Halloween Shopping Just Got a Lot Darker
Halloween season is creeping closer, which means it's time to start thinking about decorations, gifts, artwork, collectibles, and all the wonderfully weird things that make October the best month of the year.
And this year, The Dark Market is coming back to The Emporium!
On Saturday, October 10th, The Emporium is bringing the Dark Market home, transforming its very own Purple Room into a marketplace filled with local artists and their spooky-season creations.
Best of all?
Admission is FREE.
Shop Local. Shop Strange. Shop Spooky.
From 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, a collection of local artists will set up shop inside The Emporium, bringing their unique wares along for an evening of Halloween-inspired shopping.
This isn't your average trip to the mall.
If you're looking for something with a little more personality—or something that would look particularly good sitting next to your collection of skulls, ghosts, cryptids, and other questionable décor—the Dark Market is calling.
It's a chance to discover artwork and handmade goods from local creators while supporting the artists who make Maine's creative community so interesting.
Halloween Is the Perfect Excuse to Buy Weird Stuff
Let's be honest.
You don't need another piece of spooky art.
You don't need another creepy decoration.
You probably don't need another mysterious object that makes your friends ask, “Where did you even find that?”
But Halloween is coming.
And therefore, all previous rules regarding responsible shopping are suspended.
The Dark Market is the perfect opportunity to find something unusual, creative, creepy, beautiful, or delightfully strange to add to your Halloween collection.
A Night for Local Artists
One of the best things about events like the Dark Market is getting to meet the people behind the art.
Instead of scrolling past another mass-produced Halloween decoration online, you can discover something made by an actual local artist—and maybe even find your next favorite creator.
Whether you're shopping for yourself, looking for a unique Halloween gift, or simply want to wander through a room full of cool stuff, there's plenty of reason to stop by.
And because admission is free, you don't have to make a purchase to enjoy the evening.
Although we're not responsible for what happens once you see something you absolutely must have.
