First VENOM Trailer Teases the Alien Symbiote

Tom Hardy is about to become a lethal protector.

Sony Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for Venom, based on the Marvel Comics antihero and starring Tom Hardy as Venom/Eddie Brock and Michelle Williams as Ann Weying.

The 90-second trailer opens with a scenic lake that's revealed to be a large television screen hanging next to an MRI machine.  Eddie is inside the machine, being examined by a pair of scientists.

We see a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, and hear a voiceover from Eddie and see a glimpse of Ann inside a hospital.  "Everyone's got their thing.  Maybe it's a breakup, a death, an accident..."

At that moment, we glimpse what appears to be a downed alien spacecraft, presumably what brings the alien symbiote to Earth.  "Whatever it is," continues Eddie, "you used to be one thing and now, you're something else."

Next, we see Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), the founder and CEO of a powerful company known as the Life Foundation.  He admires the alien symbiote, which is housed in a clear container, as a group of research scientists looks on.

"We all have our own problems," continues Eddie as we see him on a motorcycle with cars crashing behind him and then running through a forest, "our own issues, our own...demons."

Inside the MRI machine, Eddie begins screaming and convulsing in agony.

If you'd like to check out the teaser trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official Sony Pictures Entertainment account on YouTube...

Venom is currently expected to arrive in theaters on October 5th, 2018.

JESSICA JONES Season 2 Trailer Teases the Purple Man's Return

Everyone, please give a slow clap for the return of the Purple Man.

Netflix has released a new trailer for the second season of Jessica Jones, the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series based on the Marvel Comics character and starring Krysten Ritter.

The two-minute, five-second trailer opens with a flashback to the auto accident that killed Jessica's parents and brother while she was a teenager.  We see the modern-day Jessica drinking in Josie's Bar, the dive bar featured in the series Daredevil, and smashing another glass on the bar after emptying it.

"Third glass tonight," remarks Josie.

"Put it on my tab," replies Jessica.

"You drinking to remember or forget?" asks Josie as she pours Jessica another glass.

"Giving a shit won't get you a better tip."

We start to hear the song "Runaway" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as Jessica begins speaking to her foster sister Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor).  "My whole family was killed in a car acccident, someone did horrific experiments on me, and now this super vigilante shit keeps coming at me."

A kid asks Jessica, "Do you know Captain America?", then we see an Asian man with arm tattoos telling Jessica and her assistant Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), "I wanna absorb Alias Investigations."

"You don't want me," Jessica says to the man.  "You just want to eliminate the competition."

"I never take 'No' for an answer."

"How rapey of you," replies Jessica.

The scene cuts to Jessica researching a personal case, tacking up photos and death certificates on a wall to study them.  "Something happened behind these doors," Jessica remarks in a voiceover.  "I have seventeen years of questions and they are deep."

"Just knowing what was done to you might help you," says Trish.

We see Jessica pushing open a set of chained cell doors, with Trish by her side.  "We were made here," Jessica says in a voiceover.  "Me...and something else.  The only way to find it is to open the door wider."

An unknown older woman tells Jessica, "You were brought back from the dead.  The powers were a side-effect."

"How many others are there?" asks Jessica.  "Like me?"

"There is a killer you can't control," remarks Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) in a separate scene.

"I didn't ask for any of this," says Jessica in a voiceover.

"Jessica might not want a sidekick," remarks Trish in a voiceover, "but she needs one."

"You're not super," says the Asian man from earlier to Jessica.  "You're a ticking time bomb."

Jessica steps forward to confront him.  "Keep telling me who I am, how dare you?"

We see Jessica trying to punch a door to a police holding room as she says in a voiceover, "What if facing it makes me worse?"

In a different scene, Malcolm watches Jessica leave her apartment building.  "What are you gonna do?" he asks.

"I don't know," replies Jessica.  "Depends if I can get through the night without losing my shit."

We see fleeting images of Jessica kicking open a door, looking a small fragments of rubble covering her arms, and being arrested by the police.  As Jessica finds a decaying human skull while Trish looks on in horror, Jessica remarks in a voiceover, "It takes a monster to stop a monster."

"What did they do to us?" asks Jessica in a voiceover as we see purple lighting fall over her.

A familiar slow clap follows, presumably from Kilgrave the Purple Man (David Tennant) who is somehow alive after being killed off toward the end of Season 1.

If you'd like to view the trailer, you can check it out below thanks to the official Netflix account on YouTube...

Jessica Jones returns to Netflix for Season 2 on March 8, 2018.

First DEADPOOL 2 Trailer Teases Josh Brolin as Cable

Cable and Deadpool, together at last.

20th Century Fox has released the first teaser trailer for the still-untitled Deadpool sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool/Wade Wilson and Josh Brolin as Cable/Nathan Summers.

The two-minute trailer opens in dramatic fashion with Cable's left cybernetic eye opening and glowing.  "I was born into war," Cable says in a voiceover as we see him gearing up for battle, possibly in the future.  "Bred into it.  People think they understand pain, but they have no concept of it.  What's the most pain you've ever felt?  Maybe the kind that leaves you more machine than man."

Suddenly, Deadpool interrupts the trailer after noticing that Cable's left cybernetic arm is unfinished.  "Wait!  No, stop!" he interjects, pressing pause on the trailer and showing a close-up of Josh Brolin's green sleeve to be replaced with CGI.  "What in the actual ass?!  Dale!  Why, why, why are the visual effects not done?  It's a metal arm!  It's not like we're trying to remove a mustache!  Ah, fuck it -- I'll do it myself..."

We cut to a homemade city replica comprised of colorful construction paper houses, miniature Hot Wheels cars, and plastic green army men.  Deadpool brings Cable's action figure down into the city street and pretends to be Cable, saying gruffly "I'm Cable, and I'm from the future, and I like blowin' shit up."

Deadpool then brings in a Deadpool action figure, dressed as Sheriff Woody from the Toy Story movies.  "Reach for the sky!" exclaims the Deadpool figure, quoting Woody's catch phrase.

"Oh, no!  Sheriff Deadpool!" exclaims the Cable figure.

"You know, you're a lot taller in--"

"Shut up, you little asshole!  Take this!"  The Cable figure abruptly attacks the Deadpool figure, knocking him over.

"Regeneration powers, activate!" exclaims the Deadpool figure.

"That's not something you say!" replies the Cable figure.

"Zip it, Cable!  I got the stones to help you."

"NOOOOOO!" replies the Cable figure as Deadpool places the Deadpool figure's crotch against the Cable figure's mouth, teabagging him.

"No biting," says the Deadpool figure.

The trailer resumes with completed CGI effects, with Cable facing off against a squad of men in riot gear with shields emblazoned with the letters "DMC" (Department of Mutant Correction, perhaps?)

Various fleeting images follow, including Domino (Zazie Beetz), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Cable leaping over a DMC transport truck, Deadpool and Domino exiting the rear of a military aircraft with what appears to be Bishop and Shatterstar, Deadpool and the cabbie Dopinder, Vanessa Carlysle (Morena Baccarin), and Weasel (T.J. Miller).

In the trailer's final scene, Deadpool and Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) are shown aiming their weapons at Cable, although Deadpool needs to adjust Blind Al's arm so that she's pointing at their target.  "Your time's up, you dumb fuck," remarks Cable.

"Well," sighs Deadpool, turning to the camera.  "That's just lazy writing."

If you'd like to check out the trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official 20th Century Fox account on YouTube...

Deadpool 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 18, 2018.

David Benioff & D.B. Weiss to Write & Produce New STAR WARS Trilogy

The Force is coming.  May Winter be with you.

The official Star Wars site has announced that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will write and produce a new trilogy of Star Wars films.  They will begin working on the new trilogy following the completion of Game of Thrones' eighth and final season.

According to the announcement, these new films will be separate from both the 9-film Skywalker saga and the new Star Wars trilogy announced last November, which will by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

"David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today," said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.  "Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting."

"In the summer of 1977, we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since," remarked Benioff and Weiss in a joint statement.  "We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete."

No release dates have been given for Benioff and Weiss' trilogy.  The next Star Wars film will be Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released on May 25, 2018, followed by J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode IX on December 20, 2019.

WESTWORLD Season 2 Trailer Debuts During Super Bowl LII

HBO debuted the first trailer for the second season of the hit series Westworld last night during Super Bowl LII, which featured the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the New England Patriots 41-33.

The one-minute, 30-second trailer opens with a piano version of Kanye West's "Runaway" and features Evan Rachel Wood's android host character Dolores Abernathy speaking in a voiceover as we see beautiful Utah scenery that houses the Wild West-themed amusement park known as Westworld.

Dolores begins, "Look at this world...this beautiful world.  We built this world together.  The world where dreams come true.  A world where you can be free..."

Things turn dark as we see a herd of cattle transition us to the inside of the Delos offices, as men with guns take out the herd of synthetic creatures before being trampled themselves.

"...But this world is a lie," continues Dolores as we see a fleeting image of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), The Man in Black (Ed Harris), and Clementine Pennyfeather (Angela Sarafyan).  "This world deserves to die, because this is your world.  We've lived by your rules long enough..."

Another rebellious host, Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton), slow-mo walks through the Delos offices as the carnage keeps happening around her.  "...We can save this world," continues Dolores.  "We can burn it to the ground, and from the ashes, build a new world -- Our world.”

First SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Trailer Debuts Young Han Solo

Han Solo is gonna be a pilot, the best in the galaxy.

The first official teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story debuted last night during Super Bowl LII, which featured the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the New England Patriots 41-33.  The full one-minute, 30-second trailer, meanwhile, was released this morning on ABC's Good Morning America.

The trailer opens with the young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) flipping some switches in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, accompanied with a voiceover from Han saying "I've been running scams on the streets since I was ten..."

We see Han and Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke) in a type of landspeeder, fleeing from someone as Han continues, "...I was kicked out of the Flight Academy for having a mind of my own.  I'm gonna be a pilot, the best in the galaxy."

We then see the shiny, white interior of the Falcon and glimpse Han admiring the ship's exterior.

"Hey, kid," begins Beckett (Woody Harrelson), Han's criminal mentor, "I'm putting together a crew."

Fleeting images of Qi'ra exiting the Falcon, a young Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) follow, and Thandie Newton's unnamed character follow.  "You in?" asks Beckett.

Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) growls a response, which Han translates for Beckett.  "That's yes."

We see Lando and his co-pilot droid launching the Falcon into hyperspace, along with some fleeting action images.

"I might be the only person who knows what you really are," remarks Qi'ra to Han.

Han grins in response, saying "What's that?"

The Falcon is shown being pursued by a squadron of TIE fighters, with Han and Chewie at the controls and Lando and Qi'ra seated behind them.  "Get ready!" remarks Han as he spins the Falcon around to knock one of the TIE fighters into an asteroid.

"Thought we were in trouble there for a second, but it's fine," he tells everyone with a cocky grin.  "We're fine."

All at once, everyone looks up and sees a giant tentacled alien coming at them, which the Falcon narrowly dodges.

DC Digital Service Orders Lois Lane & Lex Luthor Drama Series METROPOLIS

DC's digital service is becoming more powerful than a locomotive.

Deadline has word that the still-unnamed DC Comics digital service has given a straight-to-series order for Metropolis, a new live-action drama series starring the DC characters Lois Lane and Lex Luthor.

13 episodes have been ordered for Metropolis, which will go into production later this year for premiere on the service in 2019.  The series is described in the article as "Set in the wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis, based on the DC characters, follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city’s dark and bizarre secrets."

The series is the fourth DC Comics adaptation to receive a greenlight from the upcoming digital service, after the animated series Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders, and the live-action series Titans.  It's also the second Superman prequel series currently n production, joining Syfy’s upcoming drama series Krypton, from David S. Goyer, Damian Kindler and DC/Warner Bros. John Stephens (Gotham, Gossip Girl, The O.C., Gilmore Girls) and Danny Cannon (Gotham, Nikita, CSI series) are the executive producers of Metropolis.  Danny Cannon will direct the first episode, from a teleplay by John Stephens, with story by Cannon and Stephens.  Based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC, Metropolis is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

First ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Trailer Teases The Ghost

You never knew Hello Kitty Pez dispensers could be so deadly, did you?

Marvel has released the first teaser trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the upcoming sequel to the 2015 film Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd as Ant-Man/Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp/Hope Van Dyne.

The one-minute, 40-second trailer opens following the events of Captain America: Civil War, with Scott facing the consequences of his decision to stand with Captain America.  "I just have one question," Scott says to Hope.  "When Cap needed help, if I'd asked you, would you have come?"

"I guess we'll never know," replies Hope as we flash back to some images of Ant-Man as Giant-Man from Captain America: Civil War.  "But if you had, you'd have never been caught."

We then see Scott wearing an ankle monitor and having his place searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  "I do some dumb things," he begins, "and the people I love the most pay the price."

We also see Hope and her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) being surrounded by armed FBI agents.  "Thanks to you, we had to run," Hope tells Scott, as we see a fun scene of Hank shrinking an entire office building down to the size of a small carry-on suitcase, pulling up a handle, and wheeling it away.  "We're still running."

Next, we get some fleeting images of Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster, a gang of criminals in a car chase with Scott and Hope's van that suddenly shrinks underneath another car then expands to lift the car up off the ground, Scott as Giant-Man rising up from the water in front of a ferry filled with passengers, and our first look at Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost.

"Maybe you just need someone watching your back," suggests Scott's daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson).  "Like a partner."

Suddenly, we see various images of The Wasp in action, as she dodges a series of hurled kitchen knives and using her wings.

"Hold on," Scott says to Hank, "you gave her wings?"

"And blasters," replies Hank.

"So, I take it you didn't have that tech available for me."

"No, I did," Hank says casually.

In the final scene of trailer, we see The Wasp opening up the back of the van and hurling a small Hello Kitty Pez dispenser at someone pursuing her and Scott on a motorcycle.  She quickly enlargens the Pez dispenser, creating a major obstacle that causes the rider to lose control of his bike and fall off.

I'd you like to check out the teaser trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official Marvel Entertainment account on YouTube...

Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 6, 2018.

THE FLASH Casts Derek Mears as Dwarfstar

Central City is about to face a very small threat.

The International Business Times is reporting that the CW series The Flash has cast Derek Mears as Sylbert Rundin, better known to DC Comics fans as the supervillain Dwarfstar.

Dwarfstar will make his debut in tomorrow night's episode, "Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash," written by Sam Chalsen & Judalina Neira.  The official synopsis of the episode is "THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MEN — A meta who can shrink anything he touches battles Team Flash. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) get caught in his crossfire and are shrunk to miniature versions of themselves.  Cecile (guest star Danielle Nicolet) realizes her pregnancy has caused her to have temporary powers and discovers she can hear other people’s thoughts, which unnerves Joe (Jesse L. Martin).  Meanwhile, Barry (Grant Gustin) meets someone with a mysterious connection to Henry Allen."

Mears, 45, is best known as Jason Vorhees in the 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th and as Renzo in the 2017 revival of Twin Peaks.  He's also appeared in the movies Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and Predators.  His other television appearances include episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Comedy Bang! Bang!, Community, E.R., and The Shield.

Created in 2006 by Gail Simone and John Byrne, Dwarfstar first appeared in The All-New Atom #2 as Sylbert Rundin, a rapist and serial killer who preyed on the dormitories of Ivy University.  In his first appearance, he acquired a Bio-Belt similar to the one worn by college professor Ryan Choi and became the super-villain Dwarfstar.  This gave him the power to alter his size down to the subatomic level while retaining his natural strength level.  Dwarfstar is also keenly skilled with the use of his hunting knife that he uses to torture and kill his victims.

A master assassin as well as the shrinking nemesis of Ryan Choi. Dwarfstar was a constant thorn in Ryan's side during his tenure as The Atom. The two men were actually connected in ways they were unaware of.  A woman from Ryan's past was the reason that both men gained their shrinking belts, though Ryan was deceived to believe it was from Ray Palmer himself.  The woman, Jia, who was a former flame of Ryan's, would later turn to a life of crime and become the time warping villain Lady Chronos.  She referred to Dwarfstar as her "firstborn," probably referring to her connection to his acquisition of his power belt and not his actual birth.

Dwarfstar hired Deathstroke and his group of mercenaries, who called themselves Titans, to kill his nemesis Ryan Choi.  Deathstroke along with Cheshire, the Tattooed Man, Cinder and the recently resurrected Osiris carried out the sadistic mission.  After a horrendous confrontation at Ryan's home, he was beaten and stabbed.  Dwarfstar met Deathstroke the morning after the mission at Patriot Park so he could receive his trophy.  After Deathstroke confirmed the money was transferred, Dwarfstar was given a matchbox that contained Ryan Choi's dead body.

Ray Palmer, the previous Atom, began an investigation into Ryan's disappearance.  While investigating in his micro size, Ray discovered microbiological blood and informed the Justice League that Ryan was missing.  The League helped Ray's investigation into Ryan's whereabouts.  Later, Ray discovered evidence that Dwarfstar had a hand in Ryan's death, and vowed to find him and make him pay.  Ray eventually found Dwarfstar in a hospital, where he was recovering from severe injuries he sustained from his torture at the hands of Giganta (one of Ryan's girlfriends).  Believing it might lead to a lighter prison sentence, Dwarfstar confessed to hiring Deathstroke to kill Ryan.  Armed with this knowledge, Ray left to inform the Justice League, but not before informing Dwarfstar that Deathstroke would kill him for his betrayal.

This will be the first time Dwarfstar will appear in live-action, although the character appeared in a cameo in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold, in the episode "Sword of the Atom!"

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW at 8:00 p.m. EST.
