THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Super Bowl Trailer Teases the Return of Baron Zemo

Where do we start?

Once again, Disney/Marvel took advantage of America's most-watched sporting event by promoting the next Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series during last night's Super Bowl LV.  The 30-second TV spot was better than the actual game, which featured the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trouncing the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9, showing us more from The Falcon and the Winter SoldierHowever, a spiffier extended trailer was immediately released online, giving us two full minutes of Sam and Bucky goodness.

The extended trailer opens with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and James "Bucky" Barnes (Sebastian Stan) facing an unknown psychiatrist inside what appears to be an interrogation room.  "So," she begins, "who would like to start?"

As we cut to Sam and Bucky aboard a military aircraft, dressed respectively in their Falcon and Winter Soldier uniforms, we continue hearing a voiceover from the psychiatrist.  "Mr. Barnes, why does Sam aggravate you?" she asks.

"15 seconds to drop," says the Falcon, heading for the open hatch.

"So, what's our plan?" asks the Winter Soldier.

Saying nothing in response, the Falcon jumps out of the aircraft and soars away, noticeably aggravating the Winter Soldier, who mutters, "Great..."

We cut to a nighttime shot of the city of what appears to be Madripoor, a fictional island in Southeast Asia riddled with political corruption and all manner of crime.  We hear a voiceover belonging to none other than Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl), whom we last saw in the 2016 MCU film Captain America: Civil War.  "Superheroes...cannot be allowed to exist," he remarks.  "I have no intention of leaving my work unfinished."

Next, we see an explosion, followed by a quick glimpse of Erin Kellyman as a young woman who dons a black mask with a blood-red handprint belonging to an anarchist anti-patriotism group called the Flag-Smashers.

We then see Bucky watching some sort of military brass announcement while Sam looks sadly at a large banner of his friend, Captain America/Steve Rogers.  "The wall's upside down right now," remarks Bucky in a voiceover.

The scene shifts to Sam hurling Captain America's shield at a tree, presumably for practice.  This is immediately followed by a shot of Bucky catching the returning shield.

In a completely different scene, Sam asks someone off-camera, "Where do we start?"

As the song "Is You Ready" by Migos starts playing, we see fleeting glimpses of Sam investigating a stylish nightclub while Bucky fights several Russian and/or Eastern European men.

We cut to the Falcon soaring above a canyon, dodging several missiles trying to knock him out of the sky.  "Buck, I have a plan," he says over an earpiece radio.

"Oh, yeah?!" asks the Winter Soldier, still aboard the aircraft from earlier.  "What is it?!"

We shift to another scene, featuring former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp) stepping into view and aiming her gun at Sam and Bucky.  "Here we go again, hunh?" she remarks.  This is followed by a quick glimpse of Sharon fighting some men in the middle of some shipping containers.

We cut to a football stadium, holding some sort of patriotic ceremony featuring a high school marching band dressed in red, white and blue garb with a stylized "A" symbol.  A figure who looks similar to Captain America, the U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), marches out into the center of the field and high-fives the bandleader.

Fleeting glimpses follow of Bucky fighting more guys and the Falcon swooping into another aircraft to fight some guys, with the Falcon transforming his wings into a shield to protect himself from a hail of bullets.  We see Sam hurl Cap's shield again, followed by another explosion.

A different scene featuring the Winter Solider fighting the Flag-Smashers atop two moving trucks, with Bucky falling off and having to save himself with his mechanical arm.  Now hanging at the bottom of the truck, Bucky can only watch as the Falcon flies by and mocks him, saying, "That little girl kicked your ass."  As an oncoming car quickly approaches, Falcon swiftly soars underneath both trucks to avoid a collision.

After the show's titles, we return to the interrogation room, with Sam and Bucky now directly facing one another as the psychiatrist watches from behind the table.  "See?" she says.  "That wasn't so hard."  Sam and Bucky suddenly begin a stare fight, with the psychiatrist asking, "Okay, what are you doing?  Are you having a staring contest?"

The two men continue, trying to outlast the other until the annoyed psychiatrist abruptly snaps her fingers between them.  "Just blink, sweet Jesus...I mean, how old are you?"

In Bucky's case, that could prove to be an interesting response.

CAPTAIN MARVEL Monday Night Football Trailer Takes Carol Danvers Into Space

Captain Marvel's life began the day it nearly ended.

During last night's Monday Night Football game where the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Washington Redskins 28-13, Marvel Studios debuted the second trailer for Captain Marvel, the upcoming film based on the Marvel Comics character, starring Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn.

The two-minute, 15-second trailer opens with Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers (Larson) aboard a Los Angeles Metro Rail car in the 1990s, looking for her intended target while being stared at by astonished passengers.  We hear a voiceover from a younger Nick Fury (Jackson), who says, "So...Skrulls are the bad guys..."

Captain Marvel finds her target, an eldery woman who smiles upon being recognized, and unleashes a brutal right cross to the face designed to shock us.  The eldery woman shrugs off the blow, turns and abruptly launches into a drop kick that initiates a brief fight between the two until Captain Marvel subdues the elderly woman.  "...and you're a Kree," continues Fury, "a race of noble warriors?"

"Heroes," corrects Carol as we see a separate scene of her riding in a car with Fury.  "Noble warrior heroes."

As dramatic music builds, we see Captain Marvel slo-mo walking alongside other members of the Kree military group known as Starforce.

"Your life began the day it nearly ended," remarks a voiceover from Annette Bening's unnamed character, a Kree who rescued Danvers and made her part Kree.  "We found you, with no memory, we made you...one of us.  So you could live longer, stronger, superior.  You were reborn."

We see fleeting images of Carol being infused with some sort of fluid, and Captain Marvel hanging upside down, forcibly restrained, as an alien device is doing something to her mind.

"I keep having these...memories," remarks Carol, as we see a fleeting image of her in a flight uniform with her fellow pilot, Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch), the mother of another Captain Marvel from the comics, Monica Rambeau.  "Something in my past is the key to all of this."

Next, we see Carol wearing S.H.I.E.L.D. ball cap while at the controls of some sort of airship, with Nick Fury in the co-pilot's seat.  "You know how to fly this thing?" asks Fury.

"We'll see," replies Carol as she starts activating switches.

"That's a yes-or-no question."

"Yes," answers Carol, pushing the throttle forward and launching the airship from its hangar.

Aboard a Skrull spaceship, Captain Marvel faces off against Talos (Mendelsohn), the film's big bad.  "Would you like to know...what you really are?" asks Talos in a voiceover.

We see Carol and Nick Fury researching something in a S.H.I.E.L.D. archives room.  "I think I had a life here," Carol remarks in a voiceover as we glimpse a brief shot of Mar-Vell (Jude Law), Carol's mentor and commander in Starforce.  "What aren't you telling me?"

"You've come a long way," Mar-Vell tells her in a different scene, "but you're not as strong as you think."

"This war...is just the beginning," says Talos as we see the back of Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) as the two watch a battle in space.

"I'm not gonna fight your war," Captain Marvel states in a separate scene, followed by flashes from various points in Carol's life that end with Captain Marvel looking impressively formidable as she bursts with power.  "I'm gonna end it."

This is immediately followed by a brief sequence of Captain Marvel, now sporting her red helmet that creates a faux-mohawk with her hair, battling a Skrull invasion of Earth in space and destroying ships left and right.

In the trailer's final scene, we see Nick Fury in the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, bending down to pet a cat, saying "Aren't you the cutest little thing?  Aren't you cute?  And what's your name, hunh?"

"Fury," admonishes Carol, trying to refocus his attention, and nodding to address the matter at hand.

"I'll be back," Fury whispers to the cat before getting up to leave.

DOCTOR WHO Series 11 Teaser Introduces the 13th Doctor's New Companions

The universe is calling.

During the 2018 FIFA World Cup final earlier today, where France defeated Croatia 4-2, the BBC debuted the first teaser trailer for Doctor Who's upcoming Series 11, the first season featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.  The teaser introduces Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill as new companions Graham, Ryan Sinclair, and Yasmin Khan.

The 40-second teaser opens in an ordinary British cafe, where Ryan is watching the World Cup final on his phone while having a meal.  Suddenly, he notices a nearby table starting to shake for no apparent reason and time appears to slow down and crackle with energy.  The Thirteenth Doctor hand dips a fish finger into some custard on his plate and quickly vanishes, leaving Ryan confused.

We cut to Yasmin, who is watching the World Cup final with some friends in an apartment while sharing pizza.  As the box is shown to be empty, a nearby set of shelves starts shaking as well and time slows once again around Yasmin.  The Thirteenth Doctor's coat and legs whisk by as she leaves, and when time resumes, Yasmin discovers that the empty pizza box is suddenly full with a new pizza.

Cutting to Graham, we see him at a restaurant ordering some takeaway and reading a newspaper.  Time slows around him as well, and after we glimpse the Thirteenth Doctor's legs quickly shuffling out the door, time resumes once again.  Graham finds that his newspaper has been replaced with a copy of the comic book The Beano Summer Special 1981, the very same comic Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor was reading in the episode "The Rings of Akhaten."

Lastly, we see the Thirteenth Doctor materializing into view and smiling.

WESTWORLD Season 2 Trailer Debuts During Super Bowl LII

HBO debuted the first trailer for the second season of the hit series Westworld last night during Super Bowl LII, which featured the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the New England Patriots 41-33.

The one-minute, 30-second trailer opens with a piano version of Kanye West's "Runaway" and features Evan Rachel Wood's android host character Dolores Abernathy speaking in a voiceover as we see beautiful Utah scenery that houses the Wild West-themed amusement park known as Westworld.

Dolores begins, "Look at this world...this beautiful world.  We built this world together.  The world where dreams come true.  A world where you can be free..."

Things turn dark as we see a herd of cattle transition us to the inside of the Delos offices, as men with guns take out the herd of synthetic creatures before being trampled themselves.

"...But this world is a lie," continues Dolores as we see a fleeting image of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright), The Man in Black (Ed Harris), and Clementine Pennyfeather (Angela Sarafyan).  "This world deserves to die, because this is your world.  We've lived by your rules long enough..."

Another rebellious host, Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton), slow-mo walks through the Delos offices as the carnage keeps happening around her.  "...We can save this world," continues Dolores.  "We can burn it to the ground, and from the ashes, build a new world -- Our world.”

First SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Trailer Debuts Young Han Solo

Han Solo is gonna be a pilot, the best in the galaxy.

The first official teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story debuted last night during Super Bowl LII, which featured the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the New England Patriots 41-33.  The full one-minute, 30-second trailer, meanwhile, was released this morning on ABC's Good Morning America.

The trailer opens with the young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) flipping some switches in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, accompanied with a voiceover from Han saying "I've been running scams on the streets since I was ten..."

We see Han and Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke) in a type of landspeeder, fleeing from someone as Han continues, "...I was kicked out of the Flight Academy for having a mind of my own.  I'm gonna be a pilot, the best in the galaxy."

We then see the shiny, white interior of the Falcon and glimpse Han admiring the ship's exterior.

"Hey, kid," begins Beckett (Woody Harrelson), Han's criminal mentor, "I'm putting together a crew."

Fleeting images of Qi'ra exiting the Falcon, a young Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) follow, and Thandie Newton's unnamed character follow.  "You in?" asks Beckett.

Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) growls a response, which Han translates for Beckett.  "That's yes."

We see Lando and his co-pilot droid launching the Falcon into hyperspace, along with some fleeting action images.

"I might be the only person who knows what you really are," remarks Qi'ra to Han.

Han grins in response, saying "What's that?"

The Falcon is shown being pursued by a squadron of TIE fighters, with Han and Chewie at the controls and Lando and Qi'ra seated behind them.  "Get ready!" remarks Han as he spins the Falcon around to knock one of the TIE fighters into an asteroid.

"Thought we were in trouble there for a second, but it's fine," he tells everyone with a cocky grin.  "We're fine."

All at once, everyone looks up and sees a giant tentacled alien coming at them, which the Falcon narrowly dodges.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Trailer Teases Leia's Death & Rey's Dark Side

Is Rey going to follow Ben Solo to the Dark Side?

That's one of several questions posed by the new trailer for the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Episode VIII of the main Star Wars saga, that debuted during last night's Monday Night Football game, where the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears 20-17.

The two minute, thirty second trailer opens with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) standing in front of a window, overlooking what appears to be a weapons plant manufacturing dozens of First Order combat walkers.

We hear a voiceover from Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis), who says "When I found you, I saw raw, untamed power.  And beyond that, something truly special."

We cut to Crait, a new mineral planet that now serves as a base of operations for General Leia’s Resistance.  Old school AT-ATs are on the march, along side larger versions known as AT-M6s, as well as Kylo Ren’s personal shuttle.

The next few shots show Kylo Ren leading a garrison of stormtroopers through a craggy black rock formation, then kneeling in a blood-red room and reaching down to pick up his lightsaber.

Cutting to the planet Ahch-To, we see Rey (Daisy Ridley) finally handing over the lightsaber she recovered in The Force Awakens to Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).  "Something inside me has always been there," remarks Rey.  "But now it’s awake.  And I need help."

Rey walks toward what looks like a giant, decayed tree trunk.  Inside the tree, she finds a modest bookshelf first shown in the teaser trailer.  Rey then demonstrates her will over the Force, sending cracks through the ground as she meditates.

Luke appears considerably terrified by Rey's strength in the Force.  "I’ve seen this raw strength only once before," he begins, as the trailer cuts to a flashback. Luke’s mechanical arm emerges from a heap of fiery splintered wood.  Standing next to R2-D2, Luke's knees buckle at the sight of his temple ablaze.  "It didn't scare me enough then.  It does now."

We see a close-up of Kylo Ren’s face, which highlights the scar that Rey gave him in the previous film is now covered by a black metallic strip, either for healing or simply accentuating his new facial feature.  He smashes his helmet against a wall, echoing the shot in the teaser of its shattered remains.

"Let the past die," remarks Kylo Ren.  "Kill it if you have to.  That’s the only way to become what you were meant to be."

Kylo Ren shows his family's talent for flying in his new TIE silencer, ripping through Resistance capital ships.  Snoke’s Mega Star Destroyer, the Supremacy, is visible in the background.  We then see General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Kylo Ren’s mother and leader of the Resistance, as she watches the carnage.  Kylo Ren aims at the bridge of a ship, his grip tightening around the firing mechanism, as it's heavily implied that Kylo Ren will murder his mother as well.

The Millennium Falcon speeds through a cave of red crystals, which may be the minerals found on Crait.  The mighty Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo) lets out a roar as a porg squawks beside him.  The camera doesn’t show us who’s in the Falcon’s pilot seat.

We then see hotshot pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who makes a brief motivational speech.  "We have a spark that’ll light the fire that’ll burn the First Order down."

The trailer cuts to images of ex-stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega) dressed as a First Order officer, presumably in disguise.  Carrying a First Order riot control baton, Finn charges at his nemesis Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) in what appears to be the ruins of the combat walker factory from the beginning of the trailer.

Next, we see a number of fleeting images, including BB-8 shaking off an electric shock in an X-Wing, and Luke lying down in the rain, warning someone off-camera, "This is not going to go the way you think."  Returning to Crait, we see a new creature that resembles a crystalline ice fox running toward what looks like a Resistance base.

Rey plunges into a pool of water and emerges in a grotto.  Luke stands over her wearing his darker robes.  We see a massive battalion of stormtroopers and officers overseeing the factory.  Finn enters, wearing the same disguise he wears while fighting Phasma.

We cut to Snoke, presumably not a giant hologram this time, reaching out to someone off screen  "Fulfill your destiny," he says as we immediately widen to a shot of Rey being bent over by the Force and screaming in agony.

In the final scene, we cut to black and hear Rey’s voice say "I need someone to show me my place in all this." The camera switches to Kylo Ren, surrounded by sparks and ashes, with his face now missing the metallic stripe and leaving the scar behind.  Kylo Ren offers his hand, leading us to think he's offering it to Rey, but the sparks and ashes don't appear alongside Rey, so who knows?

BLACK PANTHER Teaser Trailer Debuts During 2017 NBA Finals

What do you know about Wakanda?

Last night, Marvel Studios debuted the first teaser trailer to their upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther during Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals, where the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors 137-116.

The one-minute, fifty-second trailer opens in an interrogation room, where CIA Agent Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) is questioning arms dealer/smuggler Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) following the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Klaue, having lost his arm at the hands of Ultron, asks Ross, "Tell me something.  What do you know about Wakanda?

"It's a third world country," replies Ross.  "Textiles, shepherds, cool outfits."

"All a front," Klaue remarks.  "Explorers have searched for it, called it 'El Dorado'.  They've looked for it in South America, but it was in Africa the whole time."

We see T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) exiting his personal shuttle, the Royal Talon Fighter, and he's met by various tribal representatives and the elder statesman Zuri (Forest Whitaker) at at place called Warrior Falls.

"I'm the only one who's seen it," continues Klaue, "and made it out alive."  Klaue laughs at the room's one-way window, knowing he's being watched by T'Challa and Okoye (Danai Gurira), the leader of the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's all-female special forces.

The Royal Talon Fighter arrives in a technologically-advanced Wakandan city, as we hear the voice of T'Chaka (John Kani), T'Challa's dead father.  "The world is changing," T'Chaka says in a voiceover.

We see fleeting images of the villainous Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) wearing a mask and T'Challa's love interest Nakia (Lupita N'yong'o) in a casino.

"Soon there will only be the conquered...and the conquerors," T'Chaka continues. "You...are a good man with a good heart, and it's hard for a good man to be a king."

We see a brief scene of T'Challa's mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) with Ross, possibly surrounded.  This is followed by a battle between T'Challa and Killmonger at Warrior Falls.  The final shot shows T'Challa as Black Panther, reeling backwards from an upended car as it crashes.

Extended GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Super Bowl Trailer Reveals Ayesha

Well, at least Drax tried.

Once again, Disney/Marvel took advantage of America's most-watched sporting event by promoting the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film during last night's Super Bowl.  The 30-second TV spot was just as thrilling as the New England Patriots' comeback to beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, showing us more from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2However, a spiffier extended trailer was immediately released online, with a full minute providing even more anticipation.

Opening to the classic rock goodness of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain", we find the Guardians brought before a new villain, Ayesha (played by Elizabeth Debicki).  Ayesha asks the Guardians, "Just who...in the hell...do you think you are?"

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) replies "Well...", which is immediately followed by multiple fleeting images of the Guardians in outer space action.  We see glimpses of new team members Yondu (Michael Rooker) with a more traditional Yondu headfin, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) in awe at how cute Baby Groot is, and Nebula (Karen Gillan) unleashing a battle cry as she swoops down in some sort of fighter craft.

Yondu, however, is apparently a little freaked out by Baby Groot and asks Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) what Baby Groot meant by "I am Groot."  "He says welcome to the frickin' Guardians of the Galaxy..." replies Rocket.  "...only he didn't use frickin."

In the final scene, the Guardians stand assembled, but a fireball abruptly comes down from the sky and takes out Mantis.  "Look out!" cries Drax (Dave Bautista), far too late after the fireball has already struck.  Drax looks up at the astonished others and says "I tried, guys."

New ROGUE ONE Olympics Trailer Teases Darth Vader

Say, that's a nice Dark Helmet.  Ahem.

A new trailer for the upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story dropped during last night's coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympics, giving Star Wars fans a better idea of what to expect in December, along with teasing the return of the franchise's most popular villain.

The two-minute trailer opens with Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) meeting with Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), a Clone Wars veteran who is an insurgent that hates the Empire and is seen by the Rebels almost as a terrorist.  "The world is coming undone," Saw says to her.  "Imperial flags reign across the galaxy."

We then see an Imperial Star Destroyer dwarfing an entire city on the mesa below it.  This is apparently Jedha, a sacred world to those who believe in the Force that was conquered by a dictatorship.

"Can you be trusted without your shackles?" asks a Rebel officer to a handcuffed, Jyn as she enters the Rebel command center inside their base on Yavin IV.

"Let's just get this over with, shall we?" replies Jyn.

Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) informs Jyn, "We have a mission for you.  A major weapons test is imminent.  We need to know how to destroy it."  Once again, we see footage of the weapons dish being placed onto the original Death Star during construction.

"If you're really doing this," says Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as we see a new U-Wing fighter lifting off, "I want to help."

"I've been recruiting for the rebellion for a long time," says Cassian as we see another world of tall peaks and lightning storms.  Their U-Wing glides through the chasms of this unspecified world.

"They destroyed our home," remarks Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen) as he fires his weapon at Stormtroopers.  Behind him is Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), a blind warrior-monk.  Both are natives of Jedha, and this appears to be a revenge assault.

"I fear nothing.  All is as the Force wills it," says Chirrut, now on the streets of the plateau city on Jedha.  He walks toward a squad of Stormtroopers and takes them out with his staff, freeing Jyn and Cassian in the process.

Next, we see the Rebel-owned and reprogrammed Imperial enforcer droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk) who towers over Jyn and states, "The captain says you are a friend.  I will not kill you."  Jyn offers the droid her thanks.

"There isn't much time," Jyn says as we see the sun over Jedha blocked out in an eclipse, presumably by the Death Star.  "Every day, they grow stronger."

We then see Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), head of the Empire's Advanced Weapons Research division, walking toward a view of the planet, surrounded by Imperial officers and Deathtroopers.

This is followed by various battle scenes, both on the beach world of Scarif and in the streets shown earlier.  K-2SO helpfully informs Cassian, "There is a 97.6% chance of failure."  Cassian tries to reassure a fellow Rebel spy, "He means well."

More battle scenes follow, with the Rebel forces firing some form of RPG weapon at an AT-ACT Imperial Walker.

"This is our chance to make a real difference," Jyn tells Saw as we go back to their earlier meeting.  "Are you with me?"

We see Jyn walking toward the edge of an outside platform, armed only with a blaster, to confront an Imperial TIE Fighter.  A group shot of the assembled Rebel forces readying for attack follows, with Cassian saying "All the way."

Lastly, we see the teased image shown above of Darth Vader staring at some computer display.  For some reason.

If you'd like to check out the trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official Star Wars account on YouTube...

Pearl Mackie IS the New DOCTOR WHO Companion!

It's official...The Twelfth Doctor is about to meet his newest companion, to be played by actress Pearl Mackie.  The news was released this afternoon on the BBC One Match of the Day Live (MOTD Live), during halftime of the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United.

A special two-minute trailer titled "Friend from the Future" revealed the announcement, with Mackie's character Bill getting a necessary recap on the Daleks.

The BBC's official website confirmed the news, saying filming for the next series of the long-running science fiction show will start this year but air in 2017.

The little-known Mackie has appeared in the film Svengali as Foh girl and on the television series Doctors as Anne-Marie Frasier.  She graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2010, and is currently performing in the National Theatre's West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

Mackie commented on the casting, saying "I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family.  It's such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn't be prouder to call the TARDIS my home!  Peter Capaldi is such a brilliant actor, and his Doctor is such a wacky and wonderful character, I can't wait to see what adventures are in store for him and Bill throughout time and space.  Reading the script at the audition I thought Bill was wicked. Fantastically written, cool, strong, sharp, a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in.  I can't wait to bring her to life, and to see how she develops through the series.

"I always loved stage combat at drama school so I can't wait to get on set and kick some evil monsters into the next dimension!  Shooting the trailer was absolutely mental.  There were pyrotechnics and smoke and I met my first Dalek!  I'm not sure it will ever become 'the norm' seeing crazy monsters on set, but I cannot wait to meet some more!  The weirder, the better, bring it on!"

Star Peter Capaldi also remarked, "It is a genuine delight to welcome Pearl Mackie to Doctor Who.  A fine, fine actress with a wonderful zest and charm, she’s a refreshing addition to the TARDIS and will bring a universe of exciting new possibilities to The Doctor’s adventures."

If you'd like to check out the two-minute trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official BBC America account on YouTube...

Are You Ready for Some Deadpool at Super Bowl 50?

Looks like chimichangas will be big at this year's Super Bowl parties.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the upcoming Fox movie Deadpool will have a big presence at Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and not just in terms of a likely TV spot.  According to the article, numerous publicity events are being planned for the film, just days after the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers compete for the NFL championship.

Star Ryan Reynolds will commandeer a food truck on Friday night to hand out chimichangas, Deadpool's favorite food.  And on Saturday, Fox will take over a bar near the stadium, renaming it Sister Margaret's Bar, after the one from the movie, for the official press junket.  While doing interviews and other things, Reynolds and co-star T.J. Miller will play darts and serve drinks.

On Friday night, Deadpool will be screened at the IMAX AMC Metreon in downtown San Francisco, with THR's sources saying that football players and other sports figures will be in attendance.  Fox will also promote Deadpool heavily on social media throughout Super Bowl weekend, including taking over Snapchat on Sunday.

The article also claims that Deadpool isn't the only Fox film using the highly-watched game for publicity.  The cast of Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24), including Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum, will attend the Super Bowl, while one or two actors from X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27) could be on hand.

In addition, Disney will also have a major presence during the Super Bowl and pregame show, and could advertise multiple films.  Disney's upcoming release slate includes Captain America: Civil War (May 6), Zootopia (March 4), Alice Through the Looking Glass (May 27), Finding Dory (June 17), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 16).

The article states that the asking price for a 30-second spot this year is more expensive than ever, $4.6 million to $5 million.  According to sources, Fox has bought two 30-second spots during the game, Universal has bought a 60-second spot, and Paramount, a 30-second spot.  Sony and Warner Bros. are sitting this year out, according to insiders.  In addition, there will be several movie ads during the CBS pre-kickoff show.

Super Bowl 50 will air on CBS on February 7th at 6:30 p.m. EST, while Deadpool will premiere in theaters on February 12th.

First Full STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer Debuts

Are you sold yet?  I know I am.

As movie tickets site Fandango blew up like Alderaan from Star Wars fans scrambling to buy tickets for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Force was strong for those who sat through a sloppy first half of ESPN's Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.

The first full trailer for the film, a glorious two minutes and twenty seconds, debuted during halftime, finally giving us our first glimpse at the storyline.

It opens with Daisy Ridley as Rey, covered in wrappings and protective gear on the desert planet of Jakku.  She appears to be exploring the wreckage of a downed starship, swinging downward on a long rope into the bowels of the ship.

"Who are you?" a female voice asks as we see Rey and her droid BB-8 walking across the desert, feeling very reminiscent of a young Luke Skywalker on Tattooine.  "I'm no one," Rey replies as we see her watching a spaceship leave orbit, and see her apparently longing for something more than the life she currently leads.

We then see the new First Order, followed by John Boyega as a stormtrooper named Finn, removing his helmet.  "I was raised to do one thing," he says, "but I've got nothing to fight for."

The scene shifts to Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, a dark warrior strong with the Force and originally a member of the Knights of Ren, now a commander of the First Order.  "Nothing will stand in our way," he begins with an electronically distorted voice, looking down at the battered helmet of Darth Vader.  "I will finish what you started."

We then get Rey talking to Harrison Ford as Han Solo aboard the Millennium Falcon. "There were stories about what happened," she remarks as Finn looks on.

"It's true," Han replies.  "All of it.  The Dark Side...The Jedi...They're real."

We see Finn joining up with a Resistance X-Wing group along with Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, followed by glimpses of Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Han and Chewbacca being captured along with Finn, Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa resting her head on Han's chest, and Finn having a lightsaber duel with Kylo Ren.

"The Force," says the female voice from earlier, "it's calling to you.  Just let it in."

Okay, here's the trailer, thanks to the official Star Wars account on YouTube...Enjoy!
