SOUTHGATE MEDIA GROUP IS HOLDING A C2E2 FAN EVENT – CHICAGO PODCASTERS UNITE, TO BE HELD MARCH 16, 2019
(Chicago) Southgate Media Group is hosting a night of live podcasting, comedy, and music leading up to Chicago’s very own pop culture convention, C2E2. The event will be at Beat Kitchen, 2100 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60618 March 16, 2019.
Chicago Podcasters Unite will include 10 live podcasts, interviews with popular artists from C2E2’s Artist Alley, live music by Time Crash, and more. Performers include the podcasts Desks and Dayjobs, Nintendomain, Freak of the Week, Popcorn Psychology, WildClaw Theatre Presents Deathscribe, Backstage Gaming, Starlight Radio Dreams, Smashing Theory, and Improvised D&D. Throughout the evening, Elliott Serrano (from WGN’s Patti Vasquez Show) will interview popular local comic book creators Art Baltazar, Gene Ha, and Marc Alan Fishman. Finally, Chicago’s very own Doctor Who tribute band, Time Crash will be performing at the top of every hour as a house band for the event.
Chicago Podcasters Unite started when Rob Southgate pitched the idea of a podcast marathon at C2E2, similar to the marathon his company presents at Indy PopCon in Indianapolis. With C2E2 being so popular, it wasn’t feasible to take a room away from the panels and meet ups held there in order to hold a podcast marathon. Rob then pitched the idea of an off site fan event to be held a week before the convention as a way to build excitement for C2E2 and celebrate the podcasting community. C2E2 loved the idea so Southgate Media Group started taking submissions and creating this amazing event. Beat Kitchen was eager to host the event in their spacious 150-seat performance venue. Out of over 30 podcast submissions, 10 were chosen. Martha Southgate, co-founder of Southgate Media Group, decided that the event should include interviews with popular members of this year’s artist alley at C2E2 and Elliott Serrano stepped in to give the interviews. Time Crash, the popular local Doctor Who tribute band, joined in as a sort of house band, playing songs at the top of every hour featuring their Guitardis. The event will have cosplayers, coloring pages by Darryl young, a chance to win free passes to this year’s C2E2, and more.

This C2E2 Fan Event will run March 16, 2019, Saturday starting at 6 pm and will end at midnight at Beat Kitchen, 2100 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60618. All tickets are$10 for early bird and $15 at the door.
