The Women in Podcasting Festival is a live event at the Otherworld Theatre Performance Venue which will be held October 6, 2018 from 10am to 4pm. The event will include 6 hours of live podcasts on two stages, celebrating the unique voices and perspectives of women in podcasting.
What exactly is the Women in Podcasting (WiP) Festival about?
The Women in Podcasting Festival is all about celebrating the unique voices, perspectives, and creativity of women who podcast. We want our marathon to connect seasoned and newer podcasters alike to each other, and to podcast enthusiasts. It’s a chance for people to see their favorite podcasts live and hopefully discover some new favorites. Our marathon is full of podcasts created by podcasters who love podcasting. It’s about creativity, and expression, and the independent spirit while showcasing the female voice. It’s about having fun in a great setting and geeking out to your passions.
What can you expect this year?
The Women in Podcasting Festival will consist of 6 hours of live podcasts hosted by women about a wide variety of subjects. The Women in Podcasting Festival is looking for podcasts mainly hosted by women. Other gendered co-hosts are definitely going to be a part of some shows yet the main host must identify as female.
Here's how it works; the festival runs from 10am to 4pm with two separate stages running concurrently. Show slots are 25 minutes each with short breaks in between sets. The marathon takes place in front of live audiences at the the Otherworld Theatre in Chicago, IL.
We record the whole thing both as video and audio. After the event, we will also post the shows on the Live at the Blue Box podcast feed available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Stitcher. The Women in Podcasting Festival is all about promoting women in podcasting and building awareness of the importance that women have an equal voice.
What can you expect? A good time that’s safe, all-inclusive, fun, and overflowing with creativity
