Guardians of the Galaxy Secret Origin

I was already hyped to see the soon to be released Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in theaters and then I heard the news that...

Cable (The Most Complicated Mutant of All Times)

It was announced last week that actor Josh Brolin would portray the time traveling future soldier/hero Cable in the upcoming Deadpool 2 movie.

Who is this mystery figure with one of the most complicated backstories in the Marvel Universe?

Venom (Lethal Protector)

Rumors have been floating around the internet for the last few days that Sony is taking the first steps towards their own R rated Venom movie.

So this may mean that Venom will NOT interact with Spider-Man.  If this is the case, WHO will be the host to the alien symbiote.

Captain America Mood Swings

We got our first sneak peek today at Steve Rogers as the head of the new Secret Empire.

While some fans have been upset with the “Steve as Hydra Cap” events put in motion by Kobik, the evolved cosmic cube that thinks it is a four year old girl, Captain America has been the victim of mental manipulation and altered realities several times before.

Amazing and Spectacular

Some of the characters from one of Spider-Man’s greatest eras are back!

Fans like their Iconic characters as mature, married people.

Wolverine: The Best There Is

The two would battle off and on for years no matter what changes either went through.

The lesson of the day: There is always someone bigger and stronger.

Marvel M.I.A.

Many great new characters and new versions of older characters have debuted in the last few years in Marvel Comics.

While these characters are strong additions to the Marvel Universe, there are also a few older characters I would like to see return in their own series.

X-Factor (Return the Fun, Action, and Comedy)

In my opinion, this is the perfect time to bring back another classic version of a beloved X-team, X-Factor, as they were written by Peter David.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Peter David written series without jokes and humor.

Marvel's Best of 2016

For my last Marvel blog of 2016 i thought I would list some of the best books I read from Marvel this year.

If you’re a newbie looking to get into Marvel Comics or an old school fan, none of these titles will disappoint.

Ben Reilly (Return of a Brother)

All long term Spider-Man fans sat up and took notice last week: Ben Reilly, the first stable clone of Peter Parker who operated as Spider-Man for a time in the 1990’s was revealed to be alive again in the final pages of Clone Conspiracy #3.

This is my plea for current Spider-Man writer Dan Slott to make Ben a hero once again and not make him an adversary, mind controlled or otherwise.

Spider-Man Upgrades (The best and Worst dressed superhero)

Mechanical web shooters, a signal belt, and web foils under the arms were all part of the original Spider-Man costume.

A device that Spider-Man has used almost since the beginning and has been improved upon and even used to this day is the Spider-Tracer.

Heroes Return (Are the Marvel & Fox Cinematic universes on their way to merging)

But just recently it was revealed that Marvel and Fox had already struck a deal of sorts:

Probably the Fox character most people want to see interact with anyone in the MCU is Deadpool.

Doctor Strange: The Fate of Dreams

I highly recommend the new novel, Doctor Strange: the Fate of Dreams as a must read companion to the movie.

But where did Stephen Strange come from before that?

The Good, The Bad, and The Infamous

Is Doom’s rehabilitation real, or a trick to lower the guard of Earth’s heroes?

Can Victor Von Doom find redemption for his various sins?

Captain America No More?

Most hardcore Marvel Comics fans suspected this after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

A literal and symbolic action, it begs the question:

Where is Quasar? (The Universe Needs It's Protector)

Long time Marvel fans know there is a long legacy behind Quasar.

It is implied at the end of the storyline that a now powerless Wendell Vaughn would act as a mentor and guide for Avril Kincaid, the new Quasar.

Captain Marvel and Brie Larson (Heroes of the Marvel Universe)

Brie Larson has been chosen for this important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I believe her place in the Marvel Universe is so important she now holds a place in pop culture that I can only compare to Wonder Woman over in the DC Universe.

Hawkeye: to kill or not to kill

I think this portrayal goes against all previous history of the character.

Maybe Clint was altered after he was resurrected in the aftermath of the House of M event, or maybe the shapeshifting alien Skrulls are back.

Cosmic Cubes (talk about an identity crisis)

After it matured, The Shaper sought to create life, not destroy it.

The Cosmic Cube that would later evolve into Kosmos was formed by the merging of The Molecule Man and The Beyonder.

Silver Sable (Mercenary or Uniter?)

Silver, whose real name is Silver Sablinova, is a mercenary and leader of the Wild Pack.

While Silver is not the ruler of her home country of Symkaria, the operations of the Wild Pack drive the economy of the small European country.
