27 rooms has the House of Knowledge

      This has been a very good week for working on Neverwinter, I was able to finish getting all the mapping done for the first level.  I will finish writing all the details for the rooms hopefully on Tuesday and then can get the Vault done.  I have finished 23 of the 27 rooms.
      In one of the rooms I have to create a monster, it is going to be great.  I am looking forward to getting to these parts in the game so I can share them with you, one room that is going to be a lot of fun is the room that leads to the Vault, there are a few traps and a Minotaur.
      The next time we play the monk and the three dwarf's are going to have to save vs. the Creeping Madness or get sick.  I hope that one of them gets the Madness because it would add more to the story when if they go looking for a cure.  I want to add finding a cure to the story, but I am not sure I want the Creeping Madness to become a focal point in the story it really doesn't play a part in the four seasons.

Who's in the house?

      So it has been two week scene everyone has been at the game.  But last night I had both players and the hope that someone new would be joining us.The new guy did not show up but maybe next time.
      The game started with one player needing to create a new character.  The new character is a mage.  The idea is that by being a mage he will not die so much.  When asked what he was doing in order for the others to find him, he said he was just chilling in his house.  So he missed the first batlle.
      The fist battle worked great in my favor because three of the four monsters were minons, I will get to the in a min.  The monk and three dwarfs were on their way to the House of Knowledge when they were attacked by some orc's.  The fist opened with the monk use a thunder strike power that killed all three of the minons, it was an encounter power that would have been nice for fighting the other orc. 
      There reason the battle work great for me was in the second fight the monk thought she had it made because they were more orc's so she thought more minons, but this time all the monsters were real.  It was also a good fight for me, because the other player wanted to be a mage so he would not die as much, the archer orc just keep shooting the mage and the mage almost died.
      The group made it to the House of Knowledge.  The way they started out I was hoping they would have ran in to the demons that live there.  However they did not climb up the bell tower.  They still went ways that I was not ready for them to go, and they were kind of mad because they keep going through doors that only took them to more hall ways.
      I did reward them because once they found a room or two with books, they went right to work looking for any thing they could on the artifacts they are looking for.  I give them one level, because the room they are in would have come after they found one of the artifacts and even though they do not know it is in this building they know a little bit more about it.
      Next time we play there is going to be some fun things going down, like they have to now make saves not to get the creeping madness.

Six rooms in the House of Knowledge

      I was able to work a little bit on the Neverwinter game in hopes that we would play it last night.  I know that one of my guys was going to be gone, but two should have been there.  While only one person should up.  I am hoping to add a girl to the team, but I am not going to ask her again until she is done with the World Cos-play that is in Japan in July.
      So I got six rooms done in The House of Knowledge, one room has treasure on a spell book.  Two rooms have monsters.  When I create a monster there is a 50% chance that they have got the Spell Scar.  Both of these monsters have the Spell Scar when I rolled the check they both rolled 09.  I don't know maybe you don't think that is cool like I do. 
      The first monster is an Imp, there are four demons that have made the house there home, so I thought I would but some other demons in the house as while.  The second monster is a Eldrin Knight; there is a chance that the players don't fight him and try to help him get raid of the Spell Scar. 
      In one of the rooms I will be creating one of my own monsters.  It is going to be a Book Worm, right now some of the powers it will have are that of the mind flyer.  I am also thinking it will have two of the Spell Scar powers.  I have only thought about it a little right now but when I create it I will share it here.
      I have also decided that I am going to but one of the artifacts in the house.  The organ I am going to have five skeletons that come to life when that music starts to play and you have to kill them in order to stop the music.  The order will depend on the song that is playing.  it will play different music depending on who enters the room first.

      It has been a few days now that I have finished the list of artifacts that I am going to us in my Neverwinter game.  So be for I do My A Gamer A day blog I will share the list with you.  I have not done powers for most of the artifacts I have decided that I will do that as they go looking for each one.

      There you have it, the Artifacts that are somewhere in Neverwinter and the area round about.  The players can choose what artifact's they want to get first or at all.  I guess there is the chose to don't do the quest after all.
      I am going to have some time to work on the game, this coming weekend there is no game because of the Mormon Conference, then the next week is the C&C game and then I am going to do a special game of C&C for a friend at work.

Artifacts

      Last night I was able to work on the game, I was however only able to add one artifact to the list of things the hero's need to find.  So in a min I will tell you about the artifact that I am using there are two that I am not using.
    The Acorn of Wo Mai,  I am not using this one because I used it in the OA, that you can here about on the podcast page at www.theswamppit.com.  The other one is the Hut of Baba Yaga, I am not using this one because it/she is going to be in the Winter of Neverwinter.
      So the first one on the list from the Book of Artifacts by David "Zeb" Cook, is the All-Knowing Eye of Yasmin Sira.  I have to change a few things so it will work with 4e.  I will do a full list of powers when I make the changes but one of them will give them a +1 to Perception.  Next week there will be a few more things to share.

Artifacts

      Last night I was able to work more on Neverwinter, I was working on the list of artifacts that Andru the wizard is trying to gather for his research.  I was kind of disappointed in that fact the there are only four artifacts in the Dungeons Masters Guide, I used the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords and one other from the book.  I have created two of my own, A book and a Chess set.
      I have the second edition book of Artifacts, I will look through it and see what I like.  I know that I will be using Baba Yaga's Hut, but the is going to be in the season of winter.  I might work on some more of my own.
      I have to make states for the book and the Chess set, plus what ever I use from the Book of Artifacts and any others that I make.
      I have some time to work on these artifacts for this week there is no podcast, due to a special podcast, and next week we are doing the Castle and Crusades game.

A Wizard named Mckell

      Last night I was able to work on Neverwinter.  There are two paths right now the hero's can take, they can go find a Wizard named Mckell.  I wanted to use the Wizards real name but my friend did not get back to me with his name so I just named the Wizard after the player.  If the Players go to see the Mckell  then they will encounter 6 orc's .
      The reason the players would go to see McKell because he is collecting artifacts to try and find out what happen to his race.  So there is a chance that he might know something about the Dwarven city that the players are looking for.
       If the players go to the House of Knowledge they will run into two orc's that have been cursed with the Spell Plague.  I don't really have any thing for the House of Knowledge yet but we know that there are demons inside.
      I have plenty of time to figure out what artifacts McKell is going to send the adventures after and what is inside the House of Knowledge for this week we are not playing and next week we are going to Play Awesomeman and the Green Dragon.

The Day of The Rats

      Today there was only one player, so I came up with something that he should have been able to do.  While as I write this you can also hear the podcast on Itunes under theswamppitw's cast.
      The story starts with our hero waking up and going to his shop.  He has decided that he is going to sale armor.  Allowing him to do this I have come up with a side story that his aid is going to steal the shop while he is out on adventurers.  the problem with that is the player just hands over the business to his aid.  has get goes off to find himself.
      The hero tries to join the army, but they don't want to take him because he is not a good fighter.  In two fights he hit twice, and was not able to finish the five mile run.  So off to the job board he goes.  The only job his is able to do on his own is Rat Hunter.
      The Rat Hunters are being paid by the Army So Adaih has one more chance to work for or with the Army.  After taking the job, Adaih find out that the places with the most rat problems are the temple district and the House of Knowledge.  He chooses to go to the temple district.  It is not much of a district there are three temples.  Two of them did not have any rats and the third one Adaih would not go to for it was the Temple of The Raven Queen.
      Not finding any rats at the temples Adaih made his way to the river.  On his way he found a little wood house, when he went inside it looked like it was a temple.  There were two benches and altar and on each side of the altar two candle sticks mad out of gold.  After a while he found the trap in the candle stick and fell through the floor.  He found a room with four rats and thus found his death.

      While I have created two of my npc's for Neverwinter, there are some things that I still need to do like write down that they have hammers and plate mail,
      Hammer Thron is a Paladin that is focusing on becoming a hospitaler so the powers I took are looking at healing.

A New Start and is it Spring time et?

      In the last game of Neverwinter the hero's died again.  They were more worried about trying to get some crap stuff back from some robbers, and they should have been worried about running away from the evil temple.  So now it is time to start over again.  One player is going to be a Warden and the other player is going to be a Female monk.
      Here are the things I am going to do in the Spring time of Neverwinter.  First I think the group of Orc's that live in the city are going to start getting more bold and try to take over more of the city.  Second and the one that is going to be the stage of this adventure is going to be a group of Dwarfs that are looking for the forgotten city, it is going to be a large group of holy leaders.
      So tonight/today I need to create my NPC's I am thinking a cleric and two paladins.  It is possible that the group will have it's problems but that is going to be part of the fun.  I might use a few of the build options for the cleric and one of the paladins.

Next time run!

      This time the group decided that they were going to setup an ambush to try and caught the thugs that attack the avenger.  There plan was that they would find an ally way and wait for them to attack a sleeping mage, then when they did the group would attack.
      The plan might have worked, there was just one problem, the day before the avenger and the rouge helped the mage escape from a temple that was going to use him for their testing.  The priest were able to find them and tried to get them to come back to the temple.
      The dwarf tried to bluff his way out of the encounter by putting dirt on his face and telling them his name was Pedro.  He thought it worked when they let him go but then one of the guards shot him in the back with a cross bow.  The avenger was like what the crap are you shooting him for and the priest pointed out that he too was wanted by the church for helping the mage escape, so he could go back to the temple in peace or he could be killed just like the mage.
       While a fight broke out and the avenger was able to get off one good attack with a rock and then he forgot that he had no weapons and rushed in to fight hand to hand.  The fighter and rouge could not hit any thing or any one.  The cleric was not able to get close enough to attack and heal and the mage got to cast Burning Sphere one time and the group was then over come.  The lesson of todays story is when you escape from an evil place run and run fast.

It's a temple what could go wrong?

      There was no podcast for this game so I will share with you this time. 
      The story starts this time with the hero's still being a day and a half away from Helm's Hold,  They stopped for lunch and to sleep because no one in the group could see at night.  While traveling the last part of the road there were no ecounters.
      Once the hero's got in to the village, that dropped of the woman they were escorting and got their money 100 g.p and started right way looking at what they needed to get to Fellscrest.  They decided that they needed to get some supplies like a light source and some food.   The Avenger was hoping to maybe buy a magic item but they did not have enough money.
      After getting the food and sun rods that they needed, the group decided that they would leave for Fellscrest in the morning, and this is where our fun begins.  There really are no inns in Helm's Hold at lest the way I run it, so the Avenger decided that he was just going to sleep in an Ally way, and the Wizard wanted to spend the night in the temple.  The rouge who knows what happened to him, but while in the Ally the Avenger sleep with his sword on his chest which was good for him kind of because the thugs woke him up trying to take his stuff.  Things did not go well for our Avenger because he tried to run away and end up dieing, if it was not for a drunken rouge he would have died.
      The wizard was allowed to spend the night in the temple, but in the morning he was invited to eat a feast for breakfast.  The food was poisoned and he did not make his saves, and ended up eating so much food that he got so sick that he could only make it back to his room.  He decided really fast that if he stayed he was going to be in a lot of trouble.  So he started planing his escape.  The rouge and avenger went to the temple to find the wizard.
      When the others got the the temple the came in right as something hit the inner door to the temple being hit with a magic missile that came out of the wizards eyes.  When the door did not break the first time the wizard used Force Orb and then the fight was on.  The group was out numbered so they tried to run away and this was a good thing for they almost died.
      I am glad that they ran, because not I can add in to the story that they are being hunted by the church of Helm.  so I will have an NPC party that is hunting them as they go. 
      Now that they have finished the quest to Helm's Hold it is time to start working on the Spring of Neverwinter.  I am excited about that there is going to be plants and maybe a dragon or two.

The Fighter

      I don't know why but I can't remember what I named the fighter, so listen to the podcast.  I stayed with the roll 3d6 in order, and the lowest was 8 the highest was 18.  He wears plate mail and has a heavy shield.  and uses a longsword.

A Drinking Game

      Our story starts in the Inn of the Shady Lady, a bar that may or may not be my go to bar name.  On this day the Dwarf enters the bar to see a man in the corner getting a half eaten lamb from the bar made, after getting his drink he approaches the man and said to him "good sir I would not eat that if I were you."  After a dressing this man the Dwarf returned to his set to meet a Minotaur that tried to rob him.
      After the failed robbery the Dwarf went to his set and the Minotaur took his set, but witching the other and witching the Human in the other corner.  Finally The Dwarf went to the Human and challenged him to a drinking contest. The Human did not want any part of this so the dwarf sweetened the deal by giving all his money to 10 gold of the Humans, the Minotaur wanted in on this deal also putting in all his money which was zero gold.
      The first drink: The Human was able to drink an extra tall glass, of course the dwarf got his down, but the minotaur was  caught trying to not drink his glass.  The dwarf was the one who caught him so the dwarf got him with a magic missile, and then allowed him to keep drinking.  The second drink:  This time the minotaur drank his and was not able to hold it and passed out.  The human also passed out, but the dwarf keep his down and won the game.  The dwarf took the gold from the human, and tried to get his gold from the minotaur but the minotaur had no gold, so the dwarf took his sword for payment.
      After the Dwarf took the sword from the minotaur he woke up the human.  it was time to make introductions and  make plans to adventure for fame and fortune and glory.  So the two set out to find a job board that they may find all of those things in the city of Neverwinter.   On the way to the job board this group of two was attacked by the minotaur looking for his sword.  In order to get his sword he needed to pay for his debt, which he was not able to do so he joined the group to get money to pay his debt.
      At the job board the group found two jobs that they could do right away the first was to help a lady find her boyfriend who was lost in the air somewhere around Fellcrest.  it was going to pay the group 500 gp.  In the process of finding a good map, the human spent all of his gold.  The super good map showed the group that in order to get to Fellcrest they had to go through Helm's Hold, which leads us to the second job.  Escorting a lady to Helm's Hold.
      When the lady was finally ready to leave night had come to the city, but there was no time to waste.  The guards told the group not to go but they went any way and shortly after leaving the city they were attacked by a group of orcs.  The group almost died when out of the wagon the   lady was in came a pink light and killed all the orcs saving the day.

Scar

      There is a Neverwinter game coming up so it is time to get the three NPC's together so the hero's don't get killed to fast. 
      Today I created Scar.  Scar is a Minotaur rouge, in order to create Scar I used the 3d6 in order so his con is 9 after his +2 to Con.  His Str is 13 after a +2.  Because he is a rouge he can only use simple weapons so daggers and the like.  I am thinking that he might take feats in order to use a great ax, and better armor, we will see what happens.
      tomorrow I will do the cleric I am thinking she will be a sharedmind we will see, and then I will make the fighter, I don't really use the build options that are in the books but I am thinking I will use the pit fighter build just to see how it goes, I feel that because it is an NPC I can break my own rules.

Spring

      I am going to do the four seasons of Neverwinter, and I have decided that I am going to start with Spring.  It seems to me that with the blessings that make Neverwinter what it is today, it is always Spring.  I am not sure there is an elemental dragon that I can use for a " boss fight".
      There is going to be at least one Green Dragon on the flying Pirate Island,  and now that I think about it there is most likely one in Neverwinter Woods so  there is that.  I also want to finish the academy and have the players do that but they could do that part during any season.  I am also going to use the Spell Plague on at least every other monster.

The City

      Starting on October 25th Neveragain will be a weekly post.  Will  play on Friday morning and then when I get home work work on Saturday morning I will post the story.  I have to make three NPC's, I am thinking about making to fighters and a cleric.
      it should be fun, I want the players to do what they want like going back to the Tower of An-rok, but I also want them to do the things I have written like the cure for the spell curse.  So  I will be looking at more store because they are not a high enough level to go in to the chasm.

The Tower of An-rok and The Death of a Team

      As the party stands before the door to level 2, the barbarian prepares to crash through the door.  Then he goes for it, breaking in the door and landing on a Glyph of Warding getting hit by lightning.  The bard and the other three members jumped over the ward, because he was not able to turn it off.  The bard and the fighter were able to jump the ward, but the Invoker was not able to make it, and triggered the ward again all most killing the barbarian.
      In this room was a floating door in the center of the room, the group was not able to find a way to reach the door.  So they went to the door to level three.  When they opened the door it was too dark to see anything.  They did not have a touch or any other way to create light, so they went back down to search level 2.  While searching they found a leaver and pulled it, this triggered the stairs up to the door in the center of the room.  When they opened the door the light inside was so bright that they could not see anything.  They went in anyway.  In this room was an Angle of Protection, The group did not give the password so the angle attacked.  By the time the group figured out they could not win this fight, the fighter had already been killed.  They retreated out of the room and closed the door, when they closed the door the stairs disappeared and they all fall to the floor.
      Those that were still alive, rested up, and then went up the stairs to level 3.  This time the invoker summoned a Fire Angle to light the way, in the room were four doppelgangers,  The fight was a good one, and the group took some damage but they took care of the monsters.   The only things in this room was the monsters so the group went to the next level.
      At the door to level 4, the bard disabled the trap on the door, and then picked the lock and when he opened the door, the barbarian decided that he was not going to do his job any more, and told the group that if they where not going in the room first, then they just won't be going in to this room.   The bard was finally able to get the barbarian to understand that it was his job to protect the party, and they were ready to go in to the room.  In this room were three Pserdodragons and the  bard was able to claim all three of them and the party was able to walk to the next door.
      No one find the traps in the door so when the barbarian entered the triggering the spinning blade.  Once again the trap got the best of the barbarian, but that would not be the worst part of this tower.  In level six were five lizard folk.  They only had clubs but these Lizards kick the crap out of the bard and the other two ran away.  Two members died, and the other two were stuck in the tower because they could not get passed the Glyph of Warding thus ends the hero's of Neverwinter.

The Tower of An-rok Level 1

      Some times I run a game while making it up as we go, the Tower of An-rok is one of those things.  So I was able to start writing all the things that I need for that game.  I have got up to the monster in the grass.  Now I will share with you what happen on the first level of the tower.
      Just like the Giant snake it was Basil the rabbit that killed the monster in the grass.  They found the monster by sending an orphan boy in to the grass, this boy was killed right a way.  The group did not worry about cutting the grass down so there could be more monsters in the grass, but I guess we will never know.
      The Front doors of the Tower are made of Cherry oak, and carved in to the door is such art work of the stars and planets.  The doors were locked, but Basil used his lock pick to get them open.  He walked in the the round room triggering the spinning blade trap. The barbarian was able to destroy the blade but not before he took a lot of damage, he has to be very careful because he is on a deal  that he gets have of everything the group finds but if he dies the deal is off.  I created this deal kind of knowing that he was going to die, the deal came about because instead of going to help the party find a job he want to go to the bar, so the others decided that they were only going to give him 1000 g.p for doing the job.  The bard was able to find some paper and ink, he all so found a per of balls in a box; he has not been able to use them yet but the are medicine balls that allow him to gain hit points as though he had spent a healing surge.
      They now stand before the doors to level two, there are sounds coming from the inside what could it be? we will find out soon.
