PODCAST MARATHON TO HELP LOCAL ELGIN FAMILY

 

Elgin, IL July 15, 2015 – Southgate Media Group and Blue Box Café are holding a podcast marathon to raise funds for Ben, a 10 year old autistic boy from Elgin who is fighting for his life from brain cancer.

To celebrate the two-year anniversary of Southgate Media Group, Martha and Rob Southgate decided to hold a podcast marathon at the Blue Box Café, home to their weekly live podcast show “Live at the Blue Box”.  When they heard the story of Ben, they knew they had to find a way to help.  Using the podcast marathon as a fundraiser was a perfect fit. 

Ben is a wonderful, funny, 10 year old boy from Elign, IL who loves to play all types of video games, loves school, loves his family, and is autistic.  Ben has had emergency Brain surgery twice. The second surgery resulted in the removal of a grapefruit size tumor.  It was determined that he has Brain Cancer and on June 29th, 2015 the pathology reports confirmed he has a Glioblastoma Multiform.

Martha and Rob, along with the Blue Box Café, have organized a 12 hour podcast marathon that will include not only podcasts from Southgate Media Group but also other podcasts that are based in the Chicagoland area. The podcast community truly wants to help support Ben and his family during this immensely difficult time.

The Southgate Media Group Podcast Marathon will be held on August 1st, 2015 from 9 am to 9pm at the Blue Box Café in Elgin, IL.

Southgate Media Group hosts close to 100 podcasts, a number of blogs, does live shows, and has a growing YouTube channel featuring vlogs and original content.
